Wisconsin Hockey 2018-2019 Part 2: Still not time for the witty thread title.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey 2018-2019 Part 2: Still not time for the witty thread title.

There is an answer, and it's to go to Forward Madison games, befriend those people, and haul them to Badgers games. (Kind of like an in-real-life ctrl+c ctrl+v maneuver.) I've met a lot of other fans who lament how few people appreciate what UW Hockey games could be, because they're Badgers fans too. Despite being in a very open air environment and having fewer people, the Flock End packs a bigger punch than any of the Badgers student sections these days, because everyone in that group of a few hundred(?) wants what we're all talking about in this thread. (And no, it's not just because of the beer.)

I don't care how great the "Flock End" is, I won't pay to go to a soccer match. There is a reason they have to have crazy fans and get it pumped up, because the game is awful to watch. That isn't the case with hockey. When my daughter switched from soccer to lacrosse, it was the happiest day of my life.... Ok, I am exaggerating, but only slightly:)

The thing about atmosphere at the KC...

Dane county capacity was around 9,800, the band played all of the songs, Phil was on the mic getting people jazzed, Lecrone was younger and running around, banners were allowed, beer garden blue line club in full effect.

Then KC, band plays far fewer songs and in an arena that holds 6,000 more people the size of the band was not increased. Lecrone got old and less animated, no banners, no old chants, the hockey team isn’t The only winner (Uhm, they haven’t won consistently in 24 years) on campus AND no beer sales. Boring.

The answers are easy for cement head Alvarez, he just refuses to allow for them cause it’s not football. And if all people in Madison, one would think Barry would want beer sal s but I digress.

Gotta say that I want to like lacrosse, but at this point I am not into it. The game doesn't move fast enough for me. I did enjoy when one of my sons played soccer. The game has grown on me over the years. If I HAD to watch a soccer or lacrosse game, not sure which way I would go.

In the late 2000s, MCR Jr was one of the LAX organizers for his high school team. I had watched College LAX on ESPN but never understood it. Once he started I really got into it. He also played LAX for MSOE.

Can't choose between LAX or soccer, Tim? Too slow?

Jeez Tim, I don't even know you anymore.

LOL. Compared to hockey, LAX lacks the speed and scoring off the transition that I enjoy the most. No tick tack toe plays. And a big save by a goalie in LAX is non-existent. Can we still be internet friends? ;)

Heading to the gross state next to use next week for a week of musky fishing. All Badger clothing all the time.

I....uhhh........what? Are we watching the same sport? Or am I missing a joke and you're talking about the airport?

TIM! When you get back from MN Musky hunting, watch the Premier Lacrosse League on NBC and NBCsn. You WILL change your thoughts on speed, transition, and big saves in professional lacrosse.

I had to turn off the world cup soccer game this morning after 15 minutes, which is the most Ive ever watched "fűtbol". Too much jogging, already some dives, and lots of eye-rolls. I found something better to do; edged, trimmed, and mowed my lawn. 😉

At least they score and the speed is ten times that of soccer. And lacrosse has scoring off transition all the time. Plus soccer ties go to penalty kicks. I can't imagine awarding the Stanley Cup on shoot-out.... Ugh. Can you?

When I have watched the NCAA LAX on the B6 network, it's pretty ploddy with "lets pass the ball around the perimeter 11 times, then a shoot a deliberate shot". I look forward to watching this PLL LAX.

I saw a tweet with Goal Caufield wearing some terrific Cardinal and White threads. They start practice today due to the Vancouver trip. :)

No Turcotte though in the number tweet...... Todd Milewski says he is wearing #15, but did not say if he was at practice. Todd will be there Wednesday to confirm.

As do I!

Sorry that I haven't been around much in the last month. Just now getting settled into the new house in Wisconsin.

Got a lot of catching up to do.

Brian Posick responded to a tweet that I sent his way that all the heralded freshmen were at practice. I think it's safe to assume Scoresalot is in the category of heralded.

Welcome home and don't fret over not posting with us internet hockey freaks. We should be just about last in your priorities right now. At least you moved during a relatively dead zone in terms of breaking news.

Thanks. I am always looking for it, so figured it would be right in my signature from now on, essentially doubling the times it's in the Wisconsin threads!
