WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

We'd go back in time and take away the stupid penalties in a heartbeat if we could so you can have Irwin back and UW can get another point. I am just not liking the feel of this team one bit right now. I'll certainly hope for a turnaround because 3 of 8 points by a veteran team against 2 bottom half of the league teams isn't getting it done.

Funny, I'm out in New Hampshire this week and I was hoping to talk about the games this weekend but I can't seem to find any UNH fans. I was hoping it might be televised but I'm told they don't do the games out here this season and their sports affiliate isn't Fox Sports so I doubt they'll buy the Badger feed to send back here.

Well I don't think CC is a bottom half team, you are right, its not the start we all hoped for but i'm use to Eaves trying to feel things out the first couple weeks of the season. I don't agree with it but i'm use to it. This weekend is a big one for wisconsin as far as the NCAA tournament so i'm hoping eaves doesn't treat it as an opportunity to experiment too much. We need these two wins going into the gopher series and I think we will get them. Even tho the record is 1-2-1, as a watch the games I like this team more and more. It will be an explosive team once they get going. I think its a little early to start to panic, looking at the video this team still looks really really good to me. I think it will be a top 3 team like most people thought at the start of the season.

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

If I recall correctly, Irwin has quite the history himself with cheapshots! I believe the league sat him down last season for a series for repeated dirty hits. I guess its Karma!

That was Bruess--he's gone pro with the Washington farm system. As a Mavs fan, I'm glad that he's gone because of the bad rep he had.

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

I didn't realize the Badgers under Eaves did this on a regular basis.
I would "disapprove" your message, but I see you're all red, so I wouldn't be the first. Grow up; it's hockey; a freshman ****ed up.

If you think I give two ****s about my "neg rep," they you're quite mistaken. I made one bad comment on a Sioux thread and jumped on me like the inbred morons that they are.

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

Craig Smith is out for two games now. There's a start.

I think Lee's a center, but I think he could play wing easily enough. The trade off is Smith was playing very physical hockey. I'm very excited to see Lee play.

Per Baggott: "Eaves said it's possible Lee, an elusive skater and gifted playmaker, could be plugged into Smith's spot at right wing on a line with sophomore left winger Jordy Murray and sophomore center Derek Stepan."

Lee and Stepan on the same line. That would be really cool. Please Please Please suit up Lee this weekend. The entire Timothy A entourage will be in attendance Saturday, I'd love to see this kid play in person.

I'd really like to see Davies - Stepan - Lee on the same line. I don't think there would be any concerns about this line being too much finesse and not enough muscle. Davies played as physical a series as anyone last weekend and Stepan can throw is body around too.

I'm not to worried about the size matchups, or finesse and not enough muscle, these two teams are pretty even in size, i might even give UW the Edge because of the size of some of out forwards against there Defensemen who could be undersized and have a tough time moving Geoffrion, Mitchell, Bohmbach from the front of the net...

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

Also i don't understand why the athletic dep had to add a game onto Smiths suspension, the league suspended him, isn't that enough??? There are 1 or 2 of these hits that happen every year, i don't know why the freaking athletic dep had to bud into it....

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

I don't believe that the athletic department added anything to Smith. The LEAGUE added a second game to his penalty. He got the game DQ which means he misses the next game. Now the WHCA has added a second game to sit. It's not like this is unprecedented. The league has added games to suspensions in the past.

Personally, I was glad to see it. The young man needs to understand NOW that you don't run somebody like that. He (and the team) will be better off in the long run if he takes the message to heart.

No the extra game came from within the program...

Re: WISCONSIN HOCKEY 09-10 - Climbing The Mountain (7th Edition?)

Wisconsin probably got a call from the league saying, "So what are you going to do about Brendan Smith's hit? Add an extra game suspension?"

Wisconsin said yes, and the league was fine with that. If they hadn't done anything, then the league probably would have suspended him.

It was Craig Smith, not Brendan.
