I have to say if he were interested it would be an ideal scenario in some ways because I don’t think he’s has ambitions to be an NHL coach?
He’s obviously very well respected. My only question would be, is he capable of teaching?
A lot of times (perhaps most?) star players don’t make good coaches because the game came so easy to them they don’t know how to teach it. That’s why I think guys like Mike Hastings, Don Granato and others who were closer to 3rd line wingers or d-men make better coaches as they have to think the game differently and can explain it better to kids.

I am highly skeptical. He's spent his adult life traveling North American as a player. As an assistant we would need him on the road recruiting. I just don't see him signing up for that again.
I just dont see Pavelski wanting to devote the time as a full assistant coach. I think he is happy to come in once in a while, help out with the PP and stuff like that. Otherwise, Id bet he is content coaching his son's team for now.
I wouldn't mind a young coach like Colten St. Clair or Evan Dixon (little bias on this one) lol

Sounds like Cournoyer is a badger. Guessing there will be a corresponding transfer out? In my ideal world I'd like to see a Hauser Cournoyer transfer, but we'll see what they're thinking.

There has to be a transfer to meet roster limits. You would like to see Hauser develop, but my fear is that he is gone.
I second this, I feel like if Castro intended to hit the portal he would've done so already. Pulver would be my guess. Cournoyer is 6'4" 200, polar opposite of Hauser. Would be a nice tandem.

I'll be surprised if Hauser isn't in the portal. Being portal'd over after leading your team to the Championship game has to be a kick in the junk.
I agree with this. "Thanks for leading us to the championship game that we should have won if we scored more than one goal, now sit on the bench behind an NHL prospect to replace you". I don't see Cournoyer leaving a top program at Cornell where he can start practically every game to split time for the Badgers; he's coming to Madison to start no doubt. Hauser was doing well until his injury mid-year, and then he finished out the season well. He'd be better off leaving and going somewhere he can start than sitting on the bench

It's all about competition, they are used to it. His surgically replaced shoulder was an issue this last year. I feel like Hauser was not fully healthy until the ncaa's after his injury, it was almost half a season as he played probably when he should not have, but they were desperate. Pulver could have locked the spot in and failed to do so. He practically cost them a spot in the ncaa's with 5 losses. He was 3-5 with a 3.79 and a .867 gaa. Not good. EZAC guys don't transition into the B6 well as we know, so even if they split time, I'm betting on Hauser beating out Cournoyer.

I think this means Pulver leaves and not Hauser but I don’t think this will be a 75-25 split in workload (in either direction) unless one of them falls on his face. I know that most people don’t like to split goalies but I wouldn’t mind seeing a 60-40 split if both goalies are playing well and then maybe ride the hot hand if one of them really excels.
It’s odd that Poirier hasn’t shown up on the transfer portal list. The folks in the Maine thread say he’s gone but maybe this indiclosed hip injury/surgery has something do with it? A good bit of info here:

I’d agree if Hauser had been healthy all year and this was purely performance related. Hauser has to understand that if he goes down again the team has to have a good option or else they’re screwed.
Regardong Poirer, his addition to the portal is imminent from the X accts Ive been following. I dont believe anything until I see it, but I read he had hip surgery. So he may just be biding his time a little, surveying options, as the portal is open for 15 days.
