Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

I know hockey season is getting close when I have to take into consideration the hockey schedule when planning fishing trips. I am so pumped up for that first series at home, that first look at the line combo's, the smell of the rink and the sounds of hockey.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

Season tickets go on sale today! They also tweeted out that an announcement about the team would be made, probably Captains with 4 players shadowed out? Usually it's seniors. Shaver has to be a lock with having an "A" as a Jr.....other Sr's, Cogan, Pankowski, Rolfes, Gardner and Clark. Guessing Shaver or Pankowski get the "C". Wouldn't be shocked to see Roque in the mix, but the Sr. class is very deep.

Clark should be the Captain.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

Fascinating that Pankowski's angle on this season is to be more lighthearted while Shaver's is to be more serious.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

BTW:
somewhere along the way, they 'decided' the dates for all but one of the home series (before this, they had all three days - Fri, Sat, Sun - listed on the schedule).

Personally, both ends of the Princeton series - Fri night, Sunday afternoon - are likely to be head up against volleyball, and the first Duluth game - Saturday - might be, too. And the second Gopher game - Sunday - might be up against a Packer game.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

We have numbers for the newbies....

Shirley 9
DeVito 11
Curl 17
LaMantia 21
Kronish 30

Baldwin is not listed, best wishes to her on the future.
Still shocked no redshirt for any of the goalies.
Practice may be pretty demoralizing for the shooters with 4 scholarship goalies.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

I have removed Baldwin from the spreadsheet. You'd think they would have to redshirt some goalie there... Can't picture 2 of them getting any ice time at all.

Shooters? How about the goalies?

Cece and Blesi couldn't crack the line-up at all, might as well redshirt all 3 and let Soup do all the work again.

The Saturday Duluth game won't be since men's hockey plays the same day, so it'll be an afternoon game at LaBahn, and volleyball plays Illinois at 7pm that night.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2018-2019

No what I am saying is that they will be bored like they are in games unless they are playing the Gophers of course.

I'm sure MJ & Co will have plenty of mini battle deals going where all 4 goalies will be very engaged, unlike in most games, even against the rodents.

Maddi Wheeler got invited to the Canadian national camp, the youngest player invited. She is in the same recruiting class as Makenna Webster, another young phenom. Those 2 in the same class with Casey O'Brien may be the best recruiting class ever, though there are probably a goalie and 1 or 2 D to add to that class yet, so who knows, but as constructed now that is a vaunting trio. All 3 are Olympic caliber. Is it 2020 yet....I do think this year's team has a chance to be pretty decent too. ;)

A UMD / BC double header 10/13? I think I have a wedding that day...nooooooooooooooooooooo!

Wait...may be?

Just go with the full blown bc hype and say it is the best ever ;)

Not only that, each individual that combines to make up the class is the best ever, until you get to subsequent members of that class, each raising the bar another few notches.

And each upperclassman on that team will be so inspired by the rookies that they will raise their own play to unprecedented levels.
