Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017

I believe the women will be shooting at the opposite goal as the men 1st and 3rd. That's how it always was pre-labahn and I'm pretty sure that's how it was at the last fill the bowl.

I was shocked that the lower bowl was completely full when I bought tickets in November. However, I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't add in the usual processing fees for this game.

They will be on the same bench as the men's team. (I say that with as much certainty is possible without having been explicitly told anything.)

That is how they did it last time, and the women's dressing rooms are going to be closest to that northwest tunnel - remember that both teams use LaBahn, and there's access between both arenas.

So keep that in mind if it matters to you.

I'll ask them to be totally sure, but I'm confident that they'll be shooting towards the students twice.

For the life of me, I can't remember which direction they shot at during the last Fill the Bowl. However, I do know that they historically have shot at the opposite ends than the men's teams over the years at Kohl Center. I am 98% certain they did during the first two Fill the Bowls.

I made a poor tactical decision not checking the reserved vs. general admission ticket policy for this year's event. As a season ticket holder, I've been given mulitple notices over the last several months about the opportunity to buy tickets. However (based on the incorrect assumption it was general admission), I held out until I knew how many tickets I wanted to get for friends/family. It was a harsh reality over the last 24 hours when I found out it was reserved seating and only tickets available were 3rd deck corner/end zone.

My default memory goes back to the first 2 events, which I'm fairly sure were general admission. However, I simply can't remember the situation the last time around. While it's ultimately my fault for not checking, I feel like the athletic department could have done a better job mentioning it was reserved seating. A high majority of women's games at Kohl Center have been general admission and I think there will be a lot of people surprised/disappointed when they go to get tickets for the remainder of the week.

While I do hope that they are shooting towards the student section, it will opposite where my tickets are, based on what I've seen in the past. Again, maybe the athletic department could communicate that a little better. Or maybe they did and I didn't see it, which is a very possible scenario.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017

I recall the first fill the bowl's were general admission. We were making plans to get there mega early so we got the seats we wanted. I saw a tweet about the tickets being reserved and luckily when I ordered I got 5 more tickets in 115. 2 hrs later 115 was full and only 3rd decks were left.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017

I got a reply from the Badgers and can now be 100% sure that the Badgers will be on the same bench the men use, shooting south in the first and third.

My seat for 2014 'Fill The Bowl' was in section 122 - center ice, behind the benches. For about ten minutes pre-game, I was sitting next to Jenny Ryan's mother, until she realized she was supposed to be in section 123 - blue line behind the bench that the men normally use. I distinctly remember thinking 'well, that makes sense, putting the families of the players behind their bench'.

I also dug up a couple photos (much harder than I would have expected!) that show UW using the bench in front of section 123 and UM using the bench in front of section 121. That is, the way a normal men's game would be.

(FWIW: This year I'm in section 109 blue line opposite what I trust will be the St Cloud bench.)

A) Good. That finally corrects the issue of the Badger women shooting away from the student section for 2 periods which always perplexed me.

B) Do I double down and get a set of tickets down on that end or just sit where my current tickets are on the opposite end? A truly bone-headed move on my part to not know the ticketing situation considering I'm a season ticket holder.

To be fair, the only times the student section actually had any kind of official location was at NCAA quarterfinal games and Fill-the-Bowl, because of where the band was. The only time - to the best of my knowledge - that the student section was actually an official student section was the last fill-the-bowl game, and the Badgers were shooting that way twice.

Wait...so 115 was available? Now I'm curious if there even is an official student section this year...and if there isn't it won't be like 2012 (or 2011, but I only know that from video) when a student section organically formed - it'll be all sitting all around.

Tickets down low in 115 were available 24 hours ago. I didn't buy there because I thought the Badgers were defending that goal twice.

Yeah, I bought 5 to the bottom of the screen right looking at the seating chart on the glass in 115. There was maybe 12 left in that area 22 hrs ago.

Pretty reasonable parking rates considering the expected crowd size. I expect the lot just to the south of the tracks will be charging $10 as they are a private lot.

I can live with $5. If you get there early enough, you might be able to dodge paying altogether. Friday night I got to the Depot lot 75 minutes before the game and the money grabbers weren't there yet.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017

I know some people who would regularly park for free in the lot just south of the train tracks and just east of East Campus Mall for men's hockey games. I know the lot between the bike path, the tracks, and Mills St (south of Dayton St and north of Spring St) has been free for men's games.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017

It sure looks like there will be a great crowd on Saturday for Fill the Bowl. Thank goodness none of the players seem to be suffering any of the effects from the carbon monoxide poisoning at Lindenwood. Saw on twitter that the team had there annual outdoor skate and it looked like the whole team was there. I didn't have a chance to see or follow the game last Friday as we were returning from our Florida trip! How did the team look?

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017

The move to reserved seats was done to ensure that they can actually sell out the Kohl Center and try to set new records. When it's general admission, they cannot sell as many tickets are there are seats because people leave open seats everywhere and the Badgers can't admit fans only to have them wandering around looking for seats. It reflects poorly on them, so they sell less tickets than capacity to make for a better fan experience. Since they want to raise the attendance from the last time around, they have to do reserved seats and try to sell them all.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017

I recall the first fill the bowl's were general admission.

I believe this is the first time the entire arena is reserved seating. The last time, I'm pretty sure just the 100 level was reserved, and the upper levels were all GA. It makes sense that everything is reserved if they are expecting to break the record, and come close to filling the arena. I also remember a lot of open seats in the reserved 100 level last time too, however.

I do remember in a pre-LeBahn FtB that was GA that there actually was a large student section, even if it was unofficial, in a game vs. MN, but they sat in the usual (mens) side, even though the women were skating the opposite direction. I wish I had remembered they now go the other way, as my seats are in the 200 level of a corner where SCSU will be shooting twice.

I get why they are doing it. They should have somehow afforded the season ticket holders the ability to either vacate their assigned seats so they could buy a grouping of seats elsewhere that fits their group size or allowed for them to put in how many seats they wanted at the time of the seat location assignment. I think they also could have better communicated the reserved seating concept for this event to ticket buyers sooner than in tweets last week. They also should have allowed the season ticket holders the ability to choose where they wanted to sit. I will communicate all of this to the ticket office.

Just read on the UW website in the article Andy Baggot wrote that ARD will be playing this weekend vs. St. Cloud. That will be huge to have her back earlier than expected!

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2016-2017

I wish the Fill-the-Bowl tickets for season ticket holders weren't automatically assigned. I now have an extra single ticket that I was never going to use, opting instead to get another ticket with a group. (And then I have an extra ticket from that, because I realized I won't be able to go...oops. :o )

Plus, you're out two dollars!

ARD....fantastic news, but I wouldn't rush her back if I were MJ. I'm pretty confident UW can sweep St. Cloud with Cece in net.

St. Cloud is coming off an impressive weekend beating and tieing Colgate. St. Cloud usually plays on the big rink, they may have a little tactical advantage having more experience on the big sheet for Saturday. I distinctly recall the last fill the bowl UW looked totally out of sorts on the big sheet of ice. Of course their opponent probably contributed to that.
