Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

I noticed on the UW Womens hockey twitter that Fridays game will be on TV. It says it will be on Direct TV channel 608-1 and on cable. Does anyone else have info on this?

I have Charter Cable and it shows tomorrow night's game on Channel 332. Even though I have a boatload of channels, that isn't part of my cable package.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

I will acknowledge that I don't know the logistics of scheduling, but I can't believe UW didn't have either the men's or women's teams playing on Halloween weekend, especially when football is on the road. Had a complete blast a few years ago going to a men's game in costume for a Saturday night game and then hitting State Street afterwards. Hockey and Halloween should be a Madison tradition.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

exactly why I cheer her move, the refs don't call this crap so IMO, good to see one of the refs get it

BTW, I did say she can be an aggressive player didn't I? I didn't realize that's why the ref fell, maybe she's finally done something stupid enough the refs will be watching her from now on.

why do the refs allow players to do those things after the whistle? these sort of things happen all the time, the glove in the face, the push & shove, cross check...

So you cheer a move that could cause serious brain injury . . . why?

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

The game shows in my guide for tomorrow night, as well. On U-Verse it's SD channel 649. Best I could find, there was not an HD Channel. Maybe if you have a sports packaged more intense than the one I pay for, you get it? I don't know. I'll still take it in SD over a webstream any day.

Channel 264 on Comcast where I live. One of the regional FoxSports channels. Personally I will be attending a live hockey event and will miss it.

Same here - 264. Just checked the channel guide and it's definitely on. I just set the DVR to record both that game and the one on 201 (#1 Gopher men at #7 St. Cloud) as I plan to be at Ridder tomorrow evening! :)

because it is their responsibility to enforce the rules that are intended to prevent injuries, if the refs aren't going to do it, who will? It is what they are paid to do.

if similar behavior is tolerated when it is perpetrated upon players, cross checks after a whistle, hooking a player down after a whistle, pushing someone over after a whistle, then yes, if it takes serious brain injury to a ref to draw their attention to it, then so be it.

They can always find another line of work if they don't want to call this stuff.

BTW, are women's college hockey officials the bottom of the barrel? I have never seen so many get hit with pucks or get in the way of players. And the inconsistency...I see this more than in any other level, even city leagues where the officials are parents.

Well that's a really sad statement to make.

it is indeed sad that Hockey is so accepting of behavior that would not be tolerated in other sports
all I'm doing by my stand is holding the people whose power it is to enforce the rules, but refuse to, be accountable.

if they will not enforce the rules when it is committed by one player against another, why should I be concerned when it is committed against an official? if they are too incompetant, too stupid, or whatever the case may be to enforce the rules I'm not going to cry if one of them get hurt from a violation of the rules against one of them.

We were to a men's game a few years ago on Halloween and it was a blast. That inspired my youngest son to get a morph suit, which he wears to the women's games now.

I can only imagine the scary crap the UW gals will see in Grand Forks this weekend, even if the general population doesn't put a costume on. A costume may in fact be an improvement to some.

I hope I can work it into my schedule to watch the games on the computer this weekend. The Saturday aft game will be hard to fit in, I should see most of the game tonight.

I'm already p/o'ed about the Friday afternoon game next week. How stupid. I could show up for the last period, but is the 2 hr round trip worth it? My heart says yes, my head says no.

I wasn't sure what you were referring to, but just checked and saw that next home series is Thursday/Friday with Friday being at 3:00. With the men not playing at home, I see no reason why it's not a night game. Again, I thought one of the main benefits of building LaBahn was to avoid this kind of disrespectful scheduling.

and you think concussing the ones that are working now will make the rest better? Interesting.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

I'll preface by saying that I didn't see any of the game, only read the game blog after the fact. Sounded like a crazy game up in Grand Forks. Squandered a 2-0 lead, get down 3-2 and then tie it up late on an Ammerman goal with less than a minute. Unfortunately, No Dak wins the shoot-out for the extra point. Then I find out that Bemidji takes 2 up in Minneapolis and should have had 3 if not for yet another late game goal by Minnesota. Extremely frustrating that the Badgers can't take advantage of that, because you know the Gophers are not getting anything less than 3 points tomorrow.

Looking at the opening line charts, not only were the Badgers missing Turnbull and Clark for Four Nations, but Rolfes was not listed and then it looked like (via the blog) Sylvester went out in the first period. Hopefully, she'll be Ok for tomorrow, because Pankowski is gone tomorrow. Again, I know other teams lose players to Four Nations, but there seem to be some competitive integrity issues which then get compounded by injuries.

Let's go get them tomorrow. Anything less than 3 points this weekend has to be considered a disappointment.

What they will see is REAL MEN, and that should worry the tongue-sucking, limp-wristed, latte-only fainters back in Madison. :D

THIS!!

Last night I witnessed a ref body check a puck carrier and literally take her down in the offensive zone negating a scoring opportunity. This crap is more than tiresome.

I'm officially a fan of pokechecker. Never thought I'd say that

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2014-2015

I guess I should not have been disappointed in last week's results considering Bemiji essentially shocked the world (on the road no less) this weekend.

I'm a little concerned about ARD....2.50 gaa over the last 6 games and her .917 WCHA save % is the second lowest in the league. It isn't like UW is allowing a lot more sog than they typicaly do. I am a little worried that I will eat my keystrokes that I typed saying she was as good as Rigsby.

I did not get to watch any of either game, but wins and ties are better than loses.
