Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

UW has the edge in goal, the ? is can they get enough rubber on the rodent sieve.
It doesn't help when the "rodent sieve" stops 97% of the rubber thrown her way. And a 33% penalty kill for UW isn't going to help either.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

Well, they got enough rubber on the goalie, just not enough through the goalie. From what I'm reading, it sounds like the Badgers did control parts of the game and had a huge edge in shots through 2. No moral victories, but at least a good sign in general as they move forward, starting tomorrow afternoon.

Let's go Red. End the steak and, more importantly, get some valuable conference points.

To make matters worse, Volleyball and Women's Hockey both have home games at the SAME TIME on Friday! This throws a wrench into my plans.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

Well, I was satisfied in that the games were close from a statistical standpoint. I was a little worried going into the weekend that the Landcows gave UW a lot to handle and the rodents are clearly a better team than them.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

I realize that Minnesota is #1 in the country and have the ridiculous winning streak, but it's still a disappointment getting swept assuming that competing for the league title is one of the team's objectives. With first semester road series against Duluth and North Dakota still looming, they have to figure out a way to beat tough competition away from the friendly confines of LaBahn.

With that said, I have this feeling that St. Cloud might be walking into a buzzsaw this weekend.

All depends how the Badgers react after two very disappointing losses in a series that they were really looking forward to. The games against St. Cloud may be closer than you think. By the same token, the Gophers may also find it tougher than they expect this weekend in Bemidji.

Especially given that the Minnesota games are in Duluth. :D

Wel, if you looked at the scorecard they were selling at the Wisconsin games, we're playing in Duluth and Bemidji this weekend.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

I agree that UW figures to have the upper hand with SCSU coming to town. However, I thought that last year when BSU opened LaBahn, so what do I know.:o

I have tried to put that series (especially the opener) out of my mind. Those lost points could have cost them a NCAA spot.

I just think the Badgers will be dialed in for this series.

Fill the Bowl tickets arrived today. It was a pleasant surprise to see they actually listened to my request for seating location, that I put in when ordering a couple extras.

And despite what the season ticket holder note said, tickets say gametime is 7pm.

I got a call saying mine is ready to pick up. I didn't request any seat, so I wonder if it's general admission or if they just gave me a spot. Either way, someone else is getting it so I can just go to the student section.

From what it seems like, most of the 100 level seats are going to be reserved. Anyone here sitting in 108 row P?

I have 4 tix @ 107 M, 4 @ 101 G & 4 @ 101 H. I screwed up by not ordering in time but at least the G & H are together. The big ? is where will I sit, on the blue line or behind the goal?

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

That was a fun game last night. It is apparent that UW's goal scoring issues are still around this year, they really could have used Pankowski this year, though I was hoping they could have improved enough w/o her. Anyway, seeing 56 sog was a blast and the fact they outshot them 32-1 in the 2nd was awesome. It was a shame scs scored that goal, but it was off a bad turn over right by the goalcrease (a poke check right there might have saved the day), it really was the only sour note the whole night besides being 1-9 on the pp. This was the kind of game a few years ago that would have qualified for a double scoop @ Culvers.

Hopefully McKibbon is ok, that was a nasty hit along the boards there.

I am more than very disappointed the students there didn't join in with our "Gopher rejects" chant.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

That was certainly the most exciting game I've seen from the women in a long time. While they only lit the lamp 4 times, they were much more aggressive and had far more quality scoring opportunities than I've seen in a long time. It would have been nice to seen a few more of them make it into the net, but they had several shots hit metal or just miss by an inch or two, including that wild shot in the second that hit off the cross bar and flew back over the glass, into the stands around the blue line.

I thought Katy Josephs unassisted goal, as the PP expired, was rocket shot from the top of the circles and was one of the best, clean, goals I've seen in a long time. I thought Turnbull also really stepped up as an offensive leader.

The hit to McKibbon was right in front of me and it was nasty. The SCSU player certainly didn't have any malicious intent - you could see she was very concerned right afterward - but it was just a very dangerous play and a no-doubt major penalty. I was amazed to see that McKibbon was back out on the ice before the penalty was over.

The only negative for me, other than perhaps the power play, was the 3rd period. The play got very sloppy and unfocused for much of the final period. The game was never really in doubt, but they took the foot off the gas way too early imho.
