Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

I need to figure out how to hook the laptop to the tv. I tried it last yeay not so successfully for the UW/Lowell fiasco. I was kinda happy not to see that debacle on the big screen.

If anybody knows how to get computer stream on their TV, please pass along how to do it. Especially on a mac.

On a Mac, it depends on the model for the port you use but you can purchase an adapter that converts to HDMI. About 30 bucks. If you have a Windows laptop with a HDMI adaptor, your set, but if not then there is a pretty nifty wireless HDMI kit that I have used from both IOGEAR and Diamond Multimedia which consists of a USB dongle that plugs into your laptop and a wireless receiver that plugs into the TV with an HDMI connection (with a very easy software setup). About 100 bucks and Worst Buy I believe carries at least one of those if your looking to get it right away.

Chromecast is the same sort of thing as FiveHole suggests, and only $35 nearly everywhere. You download an app, plug the dongle into a HDMI port on the TV. Then you have to be using the Google Chrome browser but whatever you have open on your laptop browser is also displayed on the TV screen. The more common solution is if your laptop has an HDMI port you can get an HDMI cable (as little as $20 at Best Buy) and hook HDMI to HDMI and again, whatever is on your laptop is also displayed on the TV screen.

Assuming, of course, you select the correct HDMI input on your TV.

Or the NCAA and ESPN (and their multiple channels) could figure out how to televise the Frozen Four. It amazes me that it used to be on and things have regressed and it just disappeared.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

Congratulations to Alex Rigsby for being named First Team All-American. Doesn't take a great hockey mind to say she will have to play to that level for the Badgers to have a shot tomorrow.

With BTN2GO this year, I've watched nearly all of my hockey online this year, with most HDTV and computers it's really pretty easy (although, I'm not an Apple guy...).

I got a Chromecast for Christmas, which is nice. As was mentioned, you plug the little device into your TV's HDMI input, download the app for your computer, and you're connected wirelessly over your wi-fi network. Just load the game up in Chrome, click a "broadcast to tv" icon, and maximize the screen. Biggest downside is that it can be a little glitchy, and I've had to reboot it or change some settings after getting error messages or a purple screen of death.

The cheaper option as also mentioned, and easier if you don't mind being connected by wires, buy a HDMI cable, and run that between your TV and computer. Most newer computers have this output, and it's just plug and play. BTW, Menards is a great place to find cables cheap, if you don't have time to order them even cheaper online. I bought an HDMI cable there for under $10 not long ago.

Option 3, if you have an older computer that doesn't have an HDMI output, it still should have a computer monitor output, and most HDTVs have a computer monitor input, so it's just a matter of buying the right cable. You'll also need to get an AUX Audio cable (think headphones, with 2 male jacks) to get the audio through your tv. If you go this route, you might need to go into your computers display settings to make set up your TV as an external monitor, but that should be about the most complicated part.

I watch all my streamed games on the big screen using my mac. Just go get an Apple TV unit $99, and wirelessly share the mac (or iPad/iPhone) screen via the built in AirPlay feature.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

A disappointing end to a solid season. I really thought they were looking good to go after taking the 3-2 lead into the third, but Minnesota is relentless. I'll give them a lot of credit for playing hard all game and pushing the Gophers, but there are no moral victories.

Looking forward to seeing the group of incoming freshman. They should be able to build a lot of quality depth up front.

Yes, I doubt that UM will be sweeping the season series from UW again any time soon. :(

Although the return of Kessel (if healthy) and Stecklein should help offset the graduation of a great senior class.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

Deep sigh.....I was pretty shocked that UW put 3 on the board over 2 periods, but they just made too many mistakes in the 3rd to hold on. On the ppg, the box eventually broken down and someone shot off to the right after a rodent, the puck goes into the vacated space and boom a goal. I thought the penalty was questionable, but when I saw Langley and Wrazidlo out there I knew they would call very little, so all you can do is hope the pk could handle it IF a penalty was called. The go ahead the rodent slashed through 3 Badgers ala Hillary Knight and scores. Still, at that point hope was thick in the air til the 5th goal. I don't know if Rigsby was screened, but it wasn't shot high glove, but it was low glove and it beat her glove to the intersection.

Seeing how the 4th goal went down reminded me of how valuable McKeough would have been to this team as an lock down all American type defender against the high octane rodents had she been able to come back. Before she was hurt last year she had 23 pts in 28 games, so her offense could have also helped bolster UW's thin offense. Perhaps her and Pankowski could have been the missing links UW needed to get over the top.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2013-2014 Season

The WCHA as a whole I think will be more difficult to navigate next season.

Before we get too removed from the season and focused on other things, I wanted to ask if anyone had any specific request or ideas for offseason coverage.

I'll be doing something on the U-18 Women's World Championships, since three recruits are on that team.

I'm hoping to have something with some of the incoming freshman.

I had a request to do some work regarding an explanation of women's college hockey breakdowns and conference alignments, etc, which seems like a good idea to fill offseason time and also in expanding fandom and welcoming a wider group. If you watched the Olympics but weren't at all familiar with college hockey, the landscape can be daunting, I think.

But if anyone else has thoughts or ideas, I'd love to hear them. I can make no promises, but will certainly do what I can.

Incoming freshmen is the biggie for me. Also some analysis about the wcha foes and how many pts are returning, lost and notable recruits per team. I want to get a really good picture of the balance of power in the coming season. There is a chance I may do some digging around on the foes thing pts wise, since open water fishing on WI lakes is weeks and weeks out yet. Thanks for your efforts this last season.

On the plus side of this offseason at least we won't be wondering for 5 months if injured players are coming back or not. That did get annoying, but after reading what they went through, one can see why the prognosis was very very grey.

Here is some info I came across on one of the incoming Freshman and a member of the U-18 Womens World Championships team, Baylee Wellhausen (SSM). A touching story! Click onto the following link. http://www.southernminn.com/faribau...e-b564-65e3d1fbba0f.html#.UzGlZ0nuwe0.aolmail
