Not trying to show favortism but NoDak doesn't look as good as the pre-season hype about them and UW looks way better than what was believed in the pre-season.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

Oh, dreams are fun, aren't they?

The Koolaid has been tasting awfully good so far this year. Most of us were expecting a rebuilding year and so far, things are looking way better than that.

This weekend will be a measuring stick to some degree although it's so early that I won't put a ton of stock in the results either way. I wouldn't be surprised if we swept or got swept - simply because results have outpaced expectations by such a large margin. Not sure what we have yet and you guys, to this point, haven't looked as good as you were supposed to.

I say Eaves switches it up this weekend play Bennett Friday and Gudmandson Saturday, see how they do.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

That will not happen.
Just a joke rotation is good right now.

I know this is a hockey thread but i'm a HUGE Badger fan in every sport. Take your pick what bowl game does Wisconsin football get in.

Rose or Fiesta. 50/50 assuming we win out.

Back to hockey, no WAY Eaves doesnt start Gudmandson on Friday.

Honestly, Id be happy with a split and Id be ecstatic with a win and a tie. Hopefully the Badgers keep exceeding expecations and Sue countinues to not live up to the preseason hype.

North Dakota hasn't lived up to preseason hype for several years early in the season. They always seem to come around in the second half.

Zengerle named WCHA rookie of the week:

University of Wisconsin winger Mark Zengerle, who led all first-year players with six scoring points last weekend as the Badgers took three points from host Minnesota, has been named the Red Baron® WCHA Rookie of the Week for Nov. 9, 2010. He was the No. 1 star on Nov. 5 and the No. 2 star on Nov. 6.

A 5-11, 178-pound freshman from Rochester, N.Y., Zengerle posted his four and fifth multiple-point games of the season with a pair of three-point outings to help the visiting Badgers to a 6-0 victory and 3-3 (ot) tie over the Golden Gophers. Zengerle, who shares the WCHA lead with 16 points, scored a power-play goal and had two assists in the shutout win last Friday. Among the assists was a bank-shot pass off the back of the goal, which gave teammate Derek Lee an open net to shoot at for one of Wisconsin's goals.

And then fall flat on their face once the word "post" is inserted before the word "season."

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

Well yeah, but usually after winning a couple games. ;) Much more than most teams can claim...
So its better to make the playoffs and then choke than to not make the playoffs at all? Gotcha.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

Anybody know if ticket sales are down for this weekend's series? Today on the way home they were advertising on the radio for family 4-packs for this weekend. 4 game tickets, 4 sodas and 4 hot dogs for $48.
Thats one heck of a deal and has me wondering if ticket sales are down.

I think you missed my point chief...yeah, for most of the past decade they made the NCAAs and lost, but they made a bunch of Frozen Fours during that time, so they didn't exactly fall over and die as soon as the postseason started. And of course I'd rather have UW's 1 championship during that time than all those FF appearances UND had, but that's another debate you probably don't want to get into (since so many like to march out the "6>5" with the Gophers...).

Hey, I'm as big of a Badger fan as anybody, but the fact is NoDak has had more success than UW overall. I know logic doesn't play well around here, but there you have it. :p

EDIT: And to specifically answer your question...yes, it's better to make the playoffs and then choke than to not make the playoffs at all. If you never make the playoffs you don't have much of a chance at a championship. ;) Would you have preferred UW didn't even make the playoffs last year than lay the egg they did in the championship game?

Where are you going with that? You're not implying that even though we have more titles, they have had a better program, are you? I'm asking honestly.

I agree with you that North Dakota was more successful than us in 00's, but I would say that UW and Minnesota have been about even going back over the past 20 years or so.

And we use 6>5 because we can. They'd use it on us if they could. Don't even kid yourself.

Haha, no, just saying that if we use 6>5 on the Goofs, then we have to accept it if NoDak uses 7>6 on us.

No question. Plus, we gotta give them SOMETHING.

I mean, look at them, if you can stomach it.

I think that UND & Denver have been the gold standard in the WCHA over the past ten years although both may be on the slow decline. Ourselves and the Gophers have both had 5 or 6 good years in there but haven't had the year to year consistency.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers 2010-2011, The next generation.

I know this has been talked about before, but it hurts to see it:

• The Badgers are 0-6-17 in their last 23 overtime contests, dating back to a March 17, 2007 4-3 overtime victory over St. Cloud State in the third-place game of the 2007 WCHA Final Five in St. Paul, Minn. The Badgers have tied seven consecutive overtime games.

• UW has gone 97:40 over overtime play without scoring a goal.
