I saw the play, it was a big hit, but it wasn't a clearly boneheaded play. They guy did duck down, too bad for him.

Why would you even try to put a big hit on a guy with 5 seconds left when you are winning? It was very very dumb.

Why did Geoffrion score so late? UW was buzzing them like flies on a dead after the empty netter. You play hard till the whistle blows. Rammer couldn't predict the guy was going to put his head down.

If you're talking Charter Extra , I think they might be one and the same.

Ahhh, the color guy was calling the penalties a joke, right?

I'm not entirely sure, I was listening to the UW radio guys. But I got the feeling from when I watched Charter Extra at home for the holidays that the TV announcers were sometimes also the radio guys.

I could be blatantly and idiotically wrong on that though.

Because he's been taught since forever to play 60 minutes, not 59:55 and they've got another game tomorrow; nothing wrong with sending a message for tomorrow.

Yep, 50 seconds with a 4-2 lead and 5 seconds with a 5-2 lead ARE basically the same thing.

My guess is he was looking to even the score for something that happend (or he thought happend) earlier in the game, after the result of the game was no longer in question. I know the UMD radio guys said he was down on the ice in pain after one of the UMD guys crashed the net big, during the second period I believe. I don't know how he got there and neither did the UMD guys. My guess is he took a number and waited his turn. I doubt he wanted a major penalty but I'm guessing he wanted to lay the guy out good.

Stupid? Yupper, big time, all he did was fire up the Dawgs for tomorrow. But, being someone who still plays, all I can say is, trust me it happens....at all levels.
