Winter Weather 2017-18 where EVERYONE argues.

Re: Winter Weather 2017-18 where EVERYONE argues.

It's cold, but it's a dry cold. ;)

And yeah, today and even yesterday wasn't so bad, when the sun was shining.

Re: Winter Weather 2017-18 where EVERYONE argues.

Honestly, if the wind keeps calm, it's not horrible until at night. THEN you really feel the frigidness.

This true as long as the actual temp is above 0.

I still remember my frozen bangs from The Great Keweenaw "Hurricane" of March 2007. Had to go bundle up and go to my lab that night, for departmental reasons. I used to have a pic.

My dad did an annual Nordic ski race in Northern Michigan back in the 90s, and he most remembers the year that the wind chill was 20-30 below out in the treeless sections. Of course, he finished, but far from 1st place, so I'm inclined to believe it. Also, there are "icicle beard" pics. :)

It is remarkable how warm -- even hot -- direct sunlight can be in sub-zero temperatures, provided there is absolutely no wind.
Not at this time of year in the north country

While we are on the subject of what is and what seems cold, is it just me who thinks that the coldest places on earth are usually where gas pumps are located? The wind always blows there.

Yes, I can vouch for that

This is true. It's like the rule that the paper mill is always upwind.

That's an amazing Tweet.

Re: Winter Weather 2017-18 where EVERYONE argues.

It's gotten all the way up to 12 and it is now snowing. Although when I asked Alexa how much snow was forecast she said it wasn't going to snow...
