Winter 2015 - boom or snow job?

Re: Winter 2015 - boom or snow job?

Hmmmm.

Those two homes where they've already shoveled their driveways, they're going to be so P-I-squared when the city's plow goes through that neighborhood. :D

Which is why I hope it's a front end loader. The pic was taken from the bottom of our driveway.

Most of the 13 homes on our cul de sac have cleared their driveways.

The best way to prep for the snow plow is to clear the road about five feet out and ten feet up street from your driveway. That will reduce the amount of snow piled in front of your driveway to a very manageable amount. I used to do that all the time before I moved into the townhome and when we had big snowfalls.

Normally yes. Not with this amount of white stuff.

::shudder::

How has your road not even been plowed once?????

I've been checking the weather for the past two weeks since I'm on the road and all looked OK until I saw this morning they're predicting.....something...for Thursday night into Friday morning for Boston. I'm taking a red-eye from Denver Thursday night landing Friday morning. So now I'm totally stressing out!!!

It's Maryland. They have like 12 plows for the whole State. It'll take a while to get all the roads.

County government. No towns. No private contractors. We're at the mercy of the county and the big roads and roads to the schools get top priority.

That said, the county is doing a much better job than the state.

Re: Winter 2015 - boom or snow job?

'Splain please. Need more reassurance than that!

The storm will likely go out to sea. Might be some light snow (or rain) on the Cape. But nothing to worry about for Boston.

My road has had one county plow pass once. That got it to where the neighbors could telemark on it, and one guy brought out his off road and pulled his daughter around like a water skier.

The last time this happened we had to wait for PA to lend us equipment.

36 hours. No plow

8:30 pm ET - Plow! 3 trucks did the pass on the cul de sac. They did not leave the snow dams on any of the driveways, either! Good job!

We seem to be on the same schedule. I finally had a navigable road this morning.

Re: Winter 2015 - boom or snow job?

That's glare ice, not black ice. It's shiny and you can easily spot it. Black ice would be a very thin coating.
