Sinners could easily put up a touchdown and two point conversion and shutout the Long Island Ice Teas...

Trembling chihuahuas best fighting nurses 2-1

Q-tips beat Penny Ante State 4-2

Lots of love for Penn state here. I hope the NCAA opens that one area behind the net for fans. Let’s see if the roar zone travels and which fandom gets that spot!

I've seen Penn State play. Against a very poor team (RIT), no less. Penn State is good, but I don't know what people see in them to make them think they can beat Quinnipiac.

We'll see if I'm made to be a fool... :-)

For me it’s because Qu has been inconsistent lately, and Penn State has shown they can be opportunistic.

As a CHA fan, I’ve always felt “anyone but the wcha” and you have a chance in the first round despite the underdog status.

Penn State caught a break imo with Clarkson getting UMD, even if QU is still favored.

Let's see RIT beat St Lawrence 2-1 not to long ago. Quinipiac went two and two with St Lawrence recently. There is room for optimism for PSU just based on that without even getting into any other details.

IMO, Penn State has more raw talent than any CHA champ since the days when Mercyhurst routinely qualified w/o an autobid. If Q was at the level that it was a year ago when it took tOSU to the limit, or earlier this year when we mentioned the Bobcats in the same breath with Yale and Colgate, I may have "guessed" differently. Q doesn't seem like that team right now. Besides, it is boring to pick all chalk, all of the time.

Well, are you trying to pick which is the more interesting story or which teams you actually think will win?

Either is OK (and I agree that picking the chalk is boring) but I went with the teams I actually think will win approach.

Higher seeds are higher seeds for a reason, so I can always find some path to picking them to win. I'm not saying that anyone who picked one is wrong, just that there is another way to look at it where it may be more coin flip than slam dunk. Obviously, a team like Clarkson needs to have more of a "Knights beat Yale" effort, not the one that got them thrashed by Colgate. UMD is going to do what it does, so it will be up to Clarkson to determine how likely my nurses pick is.

RIT is not a very good team (and that's putting it politely). I was at that game you mention. Yes, RIT played well that day, but SLU is a sixth place ECAC team which is under .500 overall, and RIT has a goalie (Sarah Coe) who can steal almost any game. It's not like RIT was the better team. They were outshot 43-26 and the time of possession was probably worse than that. Coe won that game for them.

Still not impressed when I saw Penn State play RIT. (Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Penn State is a bad team or they don't belong there.) Ergo, I don't see what people see in them.

[And to Lindsay, yes, I remember when Mercyhurst was one of the best in the country. I loved it (and not because I found out later on you played for them, LOL). I enjoy when the "small" conferences can produce a national power.]

It's funny how the Quinniapiac vs tOSU game last year is given a bit of revisionist history when in reality Quinnipiac was overmatched in that game. Big time puck possesion advantage for tOSU. Large shot total disparity 77-22 over 3 periods and 2 OTs...In fact tOSU outshot Quinnpiac 20-2 in the 2 OT periods. Q goalie keeped them in that game plain and simple.

Just wondering why 2 of3 games first round and 3 of 4 of second are all being played at the same time..kinda difficult to watch!
