Re: What the Fark 2: That Was... Interesting.
That already happened in the other TC.
Hopefully they get trampled.

Sounds like good entertainment in St. Paul this Sunday. BlackLivesMatter plans to protest at the TC Marathon, and block the finish line to keep runners from finishing. The group's leader says he expects the runners to just turn around and join the protest - I think not.
I am running that this Sunday. I didn't train for 18 weeks for them to **** all that up.
I support BLM and I'd blow through them to the finish line.
They should rethink this.

I received this email from Twin Cities in Motion, the organization that runs the marathon, yesterday:Many of the people I know around here that support their cause have worn thin from their antics. They have the PR IQ of a Hilary Rodham Clinton presidential campaign.
Dear Runners,
City officials have informed us that the St. Paul chapter of Black Lives Matter is planning a disruptive protest during the running of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon on October 4th. The chapter says the protest is in response to recent St. Paul police actions.
We are working closely with city officials to ensure the safety of all participants, volunteers, and spectators. City officials are advising on logistics and recommendations and we will share that with you as soon as it is available. We ask for your patience as we work on this, and want to reiterate that your safety is our highest priority.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Twin Cities In Motion

Well, Best wishes! I really hope BLM is just posturing and won't actually go through with it.I am running that this Sunday. I didn't train for 18 weeks for them to **** all that up.

It depends how tone deaf they are. On the one hand, yes, we get it: black people murdered by police officers are more important than suburban white people running in a recreational event that will be won by... well, black people from Kenya.
We get it. But this is exactly the wrong way to get people on your side.
If I were BLM leadership, I would arrange quiet vigils for each of the murder victims that marched silently from police HQ to the graveside to lay wreaths and pray. Over night you'd have a hundred million fat, comfortable white people finally understand what they mean. And those fat, comfortable white people vote and change things.

It makes me really uncomfortable that the word Australia contains three A's and all of them are pronounced differently
The English language is fun!

Thank you. I just hope, for everyone's sake, that race organizers and St. Paul city officials have this under control, and there will be no "shutting down" of the Twin Cities marathon.

If you get blocked, $50 if you hit them. $50 bonus for blood. $50 bonus if they hit the pavement.

I am a Jerome Bettis, north-south, run you over on the way to my destination style runner. I have no problems knocking these clowns over.
At this point, I think we could all chip in and have you outfitted in chain mail armor, complete with a viking horn helmet, coming at them with a huge battle ax. The only problem with this is that I don't think you would want to wear all of that while running the course.
No. I stop at the mile 26 marker, put on the armor, and then run full throttle the rest of the way.
