Same reason some municipalities are trying to make wearing the Guy Fawkes mask during a protest illegal.

Interesting. I would think wearing a Guy Fawkes mask would be protected speech.

It is. Police State USA sees a need to identify the person.

Oh, and one of the executive orders related to this tyrannical and unconstitutional legislation (i.e. PATRIOT Act, NDAA, etc.) makes it illegal to protest in the vicinity of a secret service agent, too.

Law Review article from 1992 on anti-mask laws. I imagine there has been further development in the case law since then...

There must be a concept in network theory or discrete mathematics or epidemiology of the point at which the whole network is inevitably "saturated." Say a HS senior class has 50 boys and 50 girls, and x boys and y girls start the year with a disease that has a .5 probability of infection on sexual contact. What are the values of {x, y} such that, by the end of the school year, there is a 50% chance of the entire class being infected.

Based on my HS, I would guess the tipping point pair value is {doesn't matter, 5}.

From an epidemiological standpoint-Herd immunity :)

Another thing to consider, when talking about 400,000 undiagnosed cases in the US, that's roughly 0.13% of the total population that has the disease. While 400K sounds like a lot, it's still a fairly low percentage when compared to other concerns in our world.

I'm also not too concerned about a disease that can be cured with an antibiotic regimen.

There are some nasty strains of that and Gonorrhea going around that are not as responsive to antibiotics as we would like.

Maybe it was your line of thinking that set that in motion ;)
