Western Michigan @ UMD - Time for some MACtion!

Re: Western Michigan @ UMD - Time for some MACtion!

I suppose I was just so surprised someone would belittle a charitable effort that I didn't consider you'd have made a typo.

well, I wasn't trying to belittle a charitable effort. Merely show that Michigan isn't the evil empire that most of your fans imply.

Agreed. Even evil empires don't belittle charitable efforts, you monster.

Re: Western Michigan @ UMD - Time for some MACtion!

They were already on a power play, then there were the matching roughing penalties, plus instigation on Crandall, so we were then down two.
That makes sense. Hafner had a great weekend for Western, looks like WMU has two good goaltenders.

As for UMD...even though they won last night it was not good giving up that three goal lead. Credit to them to scoring the go ahead goal in the 3rd, but the defense and the goaltending still leaves much to be desired.

That makes sense. In the arena all I heard was the penalty on Crandall. Still, maybe I'm wrong, I only saw 1 Bulldog and 1 Bronco go into the box, which should mean offsetting penalties right (even a double-minor wouldn't mean a 6 on 3, it would stay 6 on 4).

something has been up with Slubowski so far this year. Hopefully he can get it together soon. He definitely has the talent to be a great goaltender. As for WMU, if we could only score on the powerplay this season would be completely different. Loved the way WMU came back to tie the game up, but in the end they just couldn't get the sweep.

I don't know for sure if the refs handled it correctly or not. My best guess is that the roughing + instigation on Crandall is considered two minor penalties, not a double-minor. Why they didn't send two players to the box to represent both penalties is beyond me.

Re: Western Michigan @ UMD - Time for some MACtion!

I saw someone set a White Ford Bronco on fire before the game. Only a matter of time before everyone in Duluth hates the 11 hour car ride away Broncos.

Uh what?

He has had a couple great years. Must be just one of those off years. Hafner was the best goalie all weekend. WMU controlled large stretches of Saturdays game and it wasn't surprising to see them come back after how physical they got against UMD. I think UMD let off the pedal big time. Three goal lead is the worst goal lead in hockey...

Of course UMD's defense is struggling. My oh my do they give up a lot of breakaways. Although Kovacs goal was a thing of beauty. Our D has certainly let our goaltenders hang out to dry.
