Western Michigan Hockey 2010-11: Maybe it was all a dream.

Re: Western Michigan Hockey 2010-11: Maybe it was all a dream.

Here's wishing you guys the best of luck this weekend. I think you have a very good chance against Denver. I am afraid UND will be a bit much for you, but I'm (pretty sure all of Redhawk Nation) gonna be pulling for you.

Hell if Kuhn plays to his potential I don't see why the Broncos can't beat UND.

Last week Western upset (then) #4 Michigan and tomorrow we play #5 Denver. Seems doable. :)

By that logic, UND was totally out played by Denver last weekend so see you guys in St. Paul. Nothing would make me happier.

On to Green Bay! This HAS to be a dream.

I suggest that you try to slow it down. Dream seasons don't happen everyday. Look at all the stud recruits that Michigan has had in the last ten years but no NC. The '05 team not even making the Frozen Four was unbelievable. You're having a great year, try not to think too far ahead. Enjoy this season (what's left of it)!

Western was picked 10th in the CCHA by the media and the coach's preseason polls. They have been a perennial cellar dweller. Finishing 4th was a dream. Everything after that enters the realm of supernatural.

That's why I'm saying try to slow it down and enjoy it.

Whoa. Hell of a season anyway.

No reason not to go out and do it again next year.

I was rooting like mad for the Broncos. You guys came out in droves to support your team today and surprised everyone in the league all season. Congrats on a fantastic season, a great new coaching staff and a good foundation to keep adding to the success of this season.

Congrats on a fine season Western Michigan. With Blashill at the helm, you won't be in the cellar for quite some time. I think Western might make a run for first place in the CCHA next season. We shall see, the CCHA will tougher as BGSU will be better with Bergeron continuing to rebuild BG and NMU will be a lot better.

Re: Western Michigan Hockey 2010-11: Maybe it was all a dream.

What a wild and wonderful ride! Thank you coach and thank you players for bringing Bronco hockey back to life. After over a decade of striving for (and usually failing to achieve) mediocrity, Bronco hockey now contends with the "big" guys. I look forward to next season with new found hope and excitement. :) :) :) :) :) :)

Great article about an ex-Bronco doing great stuff in our community. First hand ... Kids absolutely adore him.

+1.

And you fans need to bring that attidue to Lawson, IMHO, too! And what I mean by expecting it is that you bring the energy to the rink for every game as if you were playing us.

IMHO, Western can, and should be a cornerstone team of the CCHA. Now do it.

Great season.

Holy ****, we're taking things seriously in Kalamazoo.

KALAMAZOO — Western Michigan University made a strong commitment to the future of its hockey program Saturday.

WMU's administration, with backing from school donors, gave hockey coach Jeff Blashill a significant pay raise and a one-year extension on his contract.

Blashill’s annual guaranteed salary beginning on May 1 increases to $275,000 — up from $150,000 this past season — with a base salary of $175,000 and an additional $100,000 in supplemental income awarded for radio, television and online appearances. The duration of his contract has been extended through the 2015-16 season.

His yearly earnings could reach $375,000 if certain academic and athletic incentives are met.
