Western Michigan at Alaska - 10/22/11

Re: Western Michigan at Alaska - 10/22/11

Garrett Haar scores a four on four goal at 2:22 of the first to give WMU a 1-0 lead.

Two nights in the row the 'Nooks have had goals waived off (and Meyers' goal that was waived off last night was questionable at best). Sometimes the Hockey Gods are on your side...this weekend, is not one of those times for UAF.

This one was clearly not a goal though. Cech pretty much said from the get go it wasn't in the net. But ya, Alaska clearly not having much puck luck this weekend.

Next goal probably decides this game. If it's WMU, might as well turn out the lights. I have only one criticism, if you can even call it that, of Coach Ferguson's tenure and that is that we have never been a comeback team under his watch. It's not that our guys give up, but more a result of our ideal game plan being to get the first goal or two and voraciously protect the lead.

Ya, it's sort of like having a wishbone offense in football. If you get the lead early it's great. If you get behind, you have to totally play outside of your comfort zone.
