West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac

Re: West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac

He hadn't been calling that a penalty all game, he wasn't gonna start with 2 minutes left and the team up by one. And you can tell he was trying to avoid calling anything, and then when the MTU played chickenwinged his elbow around the SCSU player's stick, and that point his hand is forced.

Wow... 3 pretty blah periods, but a good 4th and we're in business.

Re: West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac

Wow several Michigan Tech players will be having nightmares tonight!!!

Re: West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac

hate seeing a team lose like that

Re: West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac

Well... then that happened...

I was gonna say after an up and down season we only needed to play 4 really good games to win a National Championship. Apparently we only need to play 3 really good games. Dodged a MAJOR bullet there. Charlie saved our bacon

Re: West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac

on replay, i think the ref ultimately got the penalties at end of game correct. the tech player tried selling it by basically holding the guy's stick in his armpit. don't have a problem with calling both guys.

Merry Christmas, St. Clod. You had absolutely no business winning that game, and I'm sure you'll freely admit it. Good luck tomorrow.

Re: West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac

It was never in doubt.

Kidding obviously. Great game by Tech. Outplayed SCSU most of the game, but St. Cloud knows their best game is counterpunching and capitalized well on their opportunities. Heartbreaker for MTU.

Re: West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac

Ouch, was Sweeney the guy that fell in OT, and the guy that missed the EN? If so, gotta feel bad for the kid. Tech was outplaying St. Cloud, but credit St. Cloud for taking advantage of two rather big mistakes.

Absolutely heartbreaking. Gotta feel for that that Tech defenseman. Man....

St. Cloud really knows how to capitalize on its chances though.

Re: West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac

Wowza. What a way to lose.

Miss an empty netter from half ice by a few inches, but shoot it a foot too early and cause an icing which brings the puck back, allowing a score.

Then have a defender slip on a favorable slap shot, causing a 2 on 1 the other way.

And to top it all off, it's against SCSU, who couldn't buy a tourney win until a few years ago.

Thanks.

And I'm sure if St. Cloud didn't score there you would have harped about the ref not calling the MTU player for throwing his stick, right?

Heartbreaking way for Sweeney to end his career after playing EVERY game for the Huskies for 4 years. Great kid, what can you say.

And also the first SCSU goal was set up from a powerplay that came because an MTU player fell down. Couple tough breaks

Re: West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac

Quite the luck for SCSU but they gave themselves a chance and never quit.

Tech is one helluva team. Kero is surely something special. The goal to go up 2-1 was a thing of beauty.

Congrats on a great season and best of luck next year.

Cruel nature of sports, I guess. Congrats, though, to Tech on getting back to the NCAA tourney. Did I hear 31 years? Must have been fun for the fans to see some "meaningful" hockey after so long.
