Re: West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac
I stand corrected on Michigan...giving them an individual win at some point in the season was not enough to get them in the top 15.
Being a win away from making the tournament doesn't make you a good team. It means you had a good run (often in a bad conference tourney). AHA teams can easily be one win away from getting in and still be hot garbage.
Michigan was at the 66th percentile of college hockey... but where would they have finished in the NCHC? If this were the basketball tourney selection process we'd be talking about resumes. What's their resume? The highlights are winning the GLI in a down year, going 1-2 vs. Tech (and an overall -6 in those games), going 2-3 vs. Minnesota, going 4-2 vs. a Michigan State squad that came nowhere close to making the dance, and beating Lowell on the road in their one game. For God's sakes, they went 1-3 against Penn State.
