West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac

Re: West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac

No hahaha to Providence, where my team is playing.

I mis-judged your team. My bad.

Riz: our parking is anywhere from $8-$20. Boston is $40 or so (found that out on the Cafe side...all the nopes!!)

Re: West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac

JEEZ, our parking is $7 and a 10-minute (sometimes frigid) walk to the arena.

That is a direct result of having a good team at some point in the past 30 years! In a year or 2, I am sure Tech will be at $7...

THE HORROR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, F that, I'm not going up there anymore. Christ, it was bad enough paying a whole $75 for the weekend for a suite ticket....$7 parking? That's just price-raping at that point! ;)

Who's your team? University of Denver is within the city limits but is not in the actual city area. Plus they have HUGE parking lots that are half empty because people don't want to pay $7 and try and find something on the street. Colorado College is $5 and their parking is right in front of their arena. Maybe that's why I think $7 is absurd. Oh and Air Force is FREE!!! Maybe I should start going to more of their games...

Brenthoven - Just curious, does any else have near the posts you have on USCHO? Over 100,000 posts! That is a lot!

Most I have seen on here but only been here a couple months...

Gophers. MTU is my "hey, it's 2am and she looks good" team. ;)

SRO tix are $35 for non-premium games this season. Parking is usually 10 bucks. Tourneys....could be more.

I hear ya! They would have to shut down the program!

Ralph Baer. He is far and beyond me.
And Riz, I am VERY familiar with CO. I try to hit the Springs and Den area twice a year. I have friends out there.

I had to think for a second what SRO even was... I really wish more people would support the team here. It's just difficult in a football city with so many professional sports teams. I mean we draw pretty well I think for having a pro hockey team within just a few miles. They are mostly all our fans, except when North Dakota comes in or Colorado College isn't terrible.

Ok, my apologizes. I guess I was kind of assuming you knew as much about the Colorado area as I do about the Minnesota area.

Re: West Regional: North Dakota, Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac

SCSU played 26 out of their 38 games this year against teams that made the NCAA tourney. UND played 22, Michigan Tech played 4 games and Quinnipiac played 6 games against tourney teams. Obviously SCSU and UND are battle tested.

That is some great math skills... 5 vs Minnesota State, 2 vs UMD equals 4...gotcha. And if you don't think Michigan or Bowling Green are good teams that would qualify as battle tested, you're nuts just because the NCHC has this superior appearance doesn't mean there weren't good teams left out...

MANY UND transplants in your city. MANY. Mpls area and DU are the two most "re-location" cities for UND grads, IIRC.

Who would you have put in over St Cloud State? Just curious.

Are you saying North Dakota even draws more than 200-300 fans all the way to Denver, CO? If so, that is passion for your team!

They will draw that. But I'd uneducated guess that 2-3K UND fans already live there.

Oh wow. I guess that would equal a fair head count on fans when the Sioux come to town then. Hadn't thought there would be that many ND transplants there.

Let's see our arena holds about 6 thousand and the UND games come close to selling out. I'd say about half are UND fans... They draw here better than Colorado College (Even when CC was a powerhouse) which is about a 60-80 minute drive away. When they came in this year, somebody had a sign that said "Ralph Engelstad west." For the most part they are fairly well behaved, only seen about ten people total tossed. Of course I do have season tickets and I sit where the other DU season ticket holders sit, so there's actually not a ton around me. There's a lot of transplants from Grand Forks here, as Brenthoven mentioned.

The two closest (give or take) major metro cities to Grand Forks is Mpls and Denver. They are very similar in economies. One has mountains, one has lakes. Choose. ;)

Where did I say that? I just think it's stupid to say that MTU isn't battle tested because Games against Michigan And BGSU don't meet some cutoff. Those two are just as good as Providence or Nebraska Omaha in the grand scheme...
