West Regional - Minnesota/Robert Morris & St. Cloud State/Notre Dame

Re: West Regional - Minnesota/Robert Morris & St. Cloud State/Notre Dame

Way to go Huskies! Faragher, Brodz and Dowd pull through again. This sets up for a great night tomorrow night at the X. I can't wait.

The X should be rocking.

Excited for Nick Dowd. He's a talented kid. What a big time goal. Ryan Faragher (s-e-x-y goalie) was amazing. Should be a blast at the X tomorrow. Just got FF seats tonight. No matter what goes down tomorrow the match ups will be great. Love the true West/East bracket split.

Re: West Regional - Minnesota/Robert Morris & St. Cloud State/Notre Dame

So we have to go through each other, then UND to reach the title game.
Sounds about right.

Re: West Regional - Minnesota/Robert Morris & St. Cloud State/Notre Dame

Tix sold for the session actual number was 9232

What does "session" mean in this context?

I was out of town today and din't get to watch any of the games.

Re: West Regional - Minnesota/Robert Morris & St. Cloud State/Notre Dame

9300? Seriously?

For both games or just the SCSU game?

In checking the announced attendance for all the first round games, the box scores show the same number for each regional "doubleheader" - EXCEPT there is no attendance indicated (so far) for the Minnesota/RMU game. If they're going to be consistent I assume they'll use the same 9,232 number for both West Regional games.

Re: West Regional - Minnesota/Robert Morris & St. Cloud State/Notre Dame

Dowd just like Leblanc is a complete class act. At the Green Mill a couple years ago I asked him about a move he made on a guy for a goal(he basically copied a move by Cam Reid the week before that was sick) and he just said it was a high risk move (if he got checked) and he just got lucky. Congrats, I can still hear the ring- ka ching!

So it was essentially half empty.

If you have SCSU and UM in the state of Minnesota and that's all you can get, you'd think that the NCAA might revisit their pricing model...

We've all known this for years of course.

Re: West Regional - Minnesota/Robert Morris & St. Cloud State/Notre Dame

Yep, I know a lot of people that were skipping tonight's game and only going tomorrow night if they win because of the prices - including Gopher fans.

Curious to know what the ticket prices were for the other three regionals. I have to believe the $94 for the West Regional is the highest of the four and kept some people away. We'll see how many are there tomorrow - normally the attendance would be less, as many of the fans of the teams that lost want to unload their tickets and go home. But with both of the "home teams" advancing maybe the demand from the walk up crowd tomorrow will swamp the number of tickets available on the street and keep the price of tickets close to what they cost at the box office. Whatever happens, it should be a great battle between two "old" WCHA rivals located just 60 miles apart.

Re: West Regional - Minnesota/Robert Morris & St. Cloud State/Notre Dame

I just checked Ticketmaster and the West is $55 all levels (need to add a $10.35 fee or $65.35) and the Midwest in Cincinnati is $40 for the Championship games tomorrow. You can get the $8.35 of the fee waived if you use the USA hockey code or $57.

Re: West Regional - Minnesota/Robert Morris & St. Cloud State/Notre Dame

As much as I've bagged on Faragher the last 3 months....Ryan's the only reason we were in that game. The Huskies looked like a completely different team in OT. Dowd, Brodzinski, and Benik looked like superstars out there.

Now go beat the Gophers and show you deserve it.

Re: West Regional - Minnesota/Robert Morris & St. Cloud State/Notre Dame

I thought Kosilla had a horrible game. Over handling the puck. Passes behind guys all game. Lots and lots of turnovers. Rabey also looked scary a couple of times early and then he settled down.

In the second and third we weren't moving our feet. We were doing a lot of watching.

Prochno was also off on his angles and positioning early.

St. Cloud was passing two feet in front of everyone for most of regulation. The ice was garbage for both games.

State of no shows.
Idk about that. 9300 tickets sold, guessing close to that made it to at least one of the games. Best way to judge is to keep these in mind:
Lower level: 9,000
Club level: 3,000
