Weekly ECAC DI Predictions

Re: Weekly ECAC DI Predictions

What is the new semi-final format?

27th Annual Championship

The 27th annual ECAC Women’s Hockey Championship shall commence February 26-28 and feature the top eight teams, as determined by the final regular-season standings.

The 2010 championship shall feature a new format for the semifinals and championship games. In April 2009, the League administrators and coaches voted to amend the format for the semifinals and championship game such that the semifinals and championship game shall be conducted on the campuses of the highest remaining seeds. Previously, the highest remaining seed of the four semifinalists hosted the semifinals and championship games.

The four quarterfinals series shall be played Friday-Sunday, February 26-28, at on-campus facilities and feature: The team seeded No. 1 playing host to the team seeded No. 8; No. 2 playing host to No. 7; No. 3 playing host to No. 6; and No. 4 playing host to No. 5. All matchups shall be the best-of-three games series.

The quarterfinals winners shall advance to the championship semifinals, which shall be conducted Friday on the campuses of the two highest remaining seeds. The highest remaining seed shall host the lowest remaining seed; the second-highest remaining seed shall host the third-highest remaining seed.

The two semifinals winners shall advance to the championship final, conducted Sunday at the on-campus site of the higher remaining seed.

After Harvard lost in the semifinals last year, this change was implemented mainly for attendance purposes.

Re: Weekly ECAC DI Predictions

Yale @ Harvard....This could be an interesting game for one poster :)
Are you insinuating that someone around here has a kid at each of these schools? If so, that is just soo off the hook. Dang.
If you get this pick right, I'm going to have you investigated for fixing games! :)
If you pick enough ties, you get a few right here and there. :)

...and with my pick 'em record this season, I don't have much to lose anyway. :(
I'm hoping the magic of Cheel prevents RStarr from being right:D
...me too. :o

STarr got it worse than right....RPI wins 3-1...Did not see that one coming.

Re: Weekly ECAC DI Predictions

Here are mine. I believe the acumulated stats and weekly summaries are two weeks in arrears. If I have some time this weekend (while in between games), may try to tabulate them.

Here are the predictions for this week.

Feb 5
Brown @ Harvard....It wil be closer than last time
Quinnipiac @ Cornell....Cornell gunning for 2nd place
RPI @ Clarkson....Clarky will rebound
Yale @ Dartmouth...Playing the hot hand
Princeton @ Colgate...This one was hard to pick, don't pick ties
Union @ St Lawrence..And this one was easy to pick.

Hmm..... With Darthy leading looking at a 2 for 6 day. :( :o :o :o

Interesting logjam developing from 2nd to 6th after today's proceedings.

Weekly ECAC DI Predictions

So just here getting my two cents worth in-

Colgate at home might just defeat Q after and despite Q's good results nearby last night (also DO make it up the hill to Q's phenomenal a-building summit complex there in Hamden, CT! )

And St Lawrence will prevail over RPI as they are aware they need to keep things going their way.

Dartmouth had a great win last night, a great win- and will not entirely let down but need to keep it going to avoid tie.

Princeton could very well surprise while Union is no longer a viable contender, say, for the 2009-10 season wouldn't you say?

Yale could surprise and/but as to Cambridgians I admit to bias but still feel Yale might win out today ( although the song says, " We know that over Eli old Harvard holds sway...")

Respectfully submitted -:D

Well, she was betting on the tie, so perhaps her winnings weren't as big with the win .... Guess I'll let her off the hook for fixing games ... for now. :D

Re: Weekly ECAC DI Predictions

Brown will have its best opportunity to win a game this weekend. It's Senior Weekend making it the last chance for the senior class to play on home ice in front of their family and friends. No matter the outcome, I hope that the seniors savor the moment, play to the best of their ability and have fun. Best of luck this weekend to the whole team!
