Weekend Scores January 6-8

Re: Weekend Scores January 6-8

Ohio State leads Penn State 3-0 after one period. Ohio State scored three goals on six shots - that's not a typo.

Is this a rivalry series? I would think both teams would think of this as a big series and circle it on the schedule and really want to win it!

Re: Weekend Scores January 6-8

They always play Ohio State after the holiday break, but Penn State is playing like it's a pick up game. Even their warmups looked like slow-motion. I'm frustrated, so I'm going to shut up now. It's 4-0 after two periods.

Re: Weekend Scores January 6-8

Ohio State beats Penn State 5-0 on what looked like very little effort. Penn State badly needs some serious passing drills in practice, starting with aiming for players with the same jersey as theirs. This applies mostly to the defense, who should have been credited with at least three of Ohio State's five goals.

Re: Weekend Scores January 6-8

Wow, St. Cloud laid 7 on Colgate in a 7-4 win, and Colgate didn't score after St. Cloud switched goalies. The 2nd game results will be fascinating.

Re: Weekend Scores January 6-8

Another ranked team goes down, as Mercyhurst upends St. Lawrence 5-2.

Re: Weekend Scores January 6-8

Ohio State records back-to-back shutouts against Penn State, winning today's game by a score of 6-0.

Re: Weekend Scores January 6-8

Here's a result I wasn't expecting... Saturday's Wisconsin at Lindenwood cancelled, due to a "facilities issue".

More info, from a post by "Nowheresville" on the UW thread:
The "facility issue" was a Carbon Monoxide leak that caused 1 Badger and everyone on Lindenwood's team to be checked out at the Hospital! (One of the minor details left out of the press release.)

Forget the box score. Can a losing goalie be co-MVP? Can everyone who skated tonight be MVPs for playing all-out in the pouring rain? Thirty-something degrees and pouring rain. An unbelievable night that showed what determination is all about in this women's game. (At least that's how I saw it from streaming in my warm, dry kitchen.) It was crazy. I hope it never happens again, but wowza!

What sort of monsters decided that was OK?

Thanks, I saw that about 20 minutes after I posted. It does not answer the question you avoided asking though, WHO THE HEII THOUGHT THIS WAS OK?
Who had the power to say that conditions were not good enough and have the game postponed or moved but chose not to? Is everyone involved so powerless or fearful that they couldn't or wouldn't stop this before it started?

The coaches should have said that they were not putting their players on the ice.

Ditto.

Excellent article by TTT

Exactly my opinion. Those conditions were unpredictable, and unpreventable, so it should have been a no fault decision, whether there was an expressed or implied contractual agreement to play the game on that day at that time. The most important responsibility a coach, school, league, or sport has is to ensure the safety of the players to the best of their ability. That was a top to bottom failure.
