WCHA What If Calculator: 2010-2011

Re: WCHA What If Calculator: 2010-2011

Chris Dilks at WCH said it best earlier in the season, "With a 12 team league its not how the top teams do head to head, its how you handle the cupcakes." He was basing this on the CCHA.

Sure enough DU, UMD & North Dakota all split with each other.

Either DU, UMD or UND will whip off a 9-1-0 streak at some point in the second half. Whomever does it will win the MacNaughton.

Weird, I did it on my own and obviously got different totals, but have the exact same seedings as Hoosier.

I was thinking that the team that has the most cupcakes might be the one that ends up on top at the end of the season.

Re: WCHA What If Calculator: 2010-2011

Well, Siouxsports has their What If Calculator back up...

http://siouxsports.com/hockey/whatif/index.php?confid=1

Here is what I had...

1. North Dakota - 45 pts
2. Duluth - 41 pts
3. Denver - 39 pts
t4. Wisconsin - 31 pts
t4. Nebraska Omaha - 31 pts
6. Colorado College - 30 pts
7. Minnesota - 28 pts
t8. Bemidji State - 22 pts
t8. Anchorage - 22 pts
10. Mankato - 21 pts
11. SCSU - 18 pts
12. Michigan Tech - 8 pts

Obviously it's VERY early, as most teams have only played half their schedule. Anyway, please post your picks and thoughts. :)

Well, 5 weeks left in the season, so I thought I'd bump this back up and post my thoughts now...

1. North Dakota - 42 pts
2. Denver - 39 pts
3. Duluth - 37 pts
4. Wisconsin - 36 pts
5. Nebraska-Omaha - 31 pts
6. Minnesota - 28 pts
7. Colorado College - 26 pts
8. St. Cloud State - 26 pts
9. Alaska Anchorage - 25 pts
10. Minnesota State Mankato - 21 pts
11. Bemidji State - 20 pts
12. Michigan Tech - 5 pts

That would give us First Round Matchups of:
North Dakota vs Michigan Tech
Denver vs Bemidji State
Duluth vs Mankato
Wisconsin vs Anchorage
Omaha vs SCSU
Minnesota vs CC

Re: WCHA What If Calculator: 2010-2011

Here is what I come up with in my new pipe dream:

Denver 28 43
UND 28 41
UMD 28 38
UW 28 32
Nebraska-Omaha 28 30
UMN 28 30
CC 28 30
Bemidji State 28 24
SCSU 28 23
AA 28 22
Mankato 28 18
MTech 28 5

It is going to be a tough road for BSU to get there, but I am hoping!
