WCHA ROUND ONE: CC vs. UMD @ the DECC

Re: WCHA ROUND ONE: CC vs. UMD @ the DECC

I see your point. I just didn't think that O'Brien was at fault for the goals he gave up against DU. I think it was mostly our D that was. You could argue that he should have had maybe one of those four but he was pretty much hung out to dry on three of them.

I completely agree the D screwed him, but I thought he also had to make a couple saves that should have been routine but looked spectacular because he was so far out of position and he just never seemed to settle down. Shibrowski had a rough looking 1st period against Mercyhurst, but looked much more comfortable the rest of the game. Both of them look like they are playing with two blockers though, which is why I think CC won't have a chance if Howe can't go. There will just be way too many juicy rebounds.

Re: WCHA ROUND ONE: CC vs. UMD @ the DECC

I heard it was Chad Huttel. And then he tazed the penalty box attendant.

I heard the same thing!!

I like CC's chances this weekend while most do not. I fully expect UMD to play well, but I'll act like Huttel and predict something crazy.

Friday UMD
Saturday CC
Sunday CC

Here is another little "Huttel" for you. Joe Howe will play all three games this weekend.

CC, you owe UMD payback!! This is the weekend for it!! Go Tigers!!

This series just got better, per Kevin Pates (go-to newspaper reporter for anything UMD) Scott Owens thinks Howe will be good to go this weekend:

CCTig beat you to it.

So CC won't come in and roll over (like they might have with the backup), looks like UMD will have play some hockey!

I like it that way. This Bulldog team has a habit of playing down (and further) to struggling teams levels. Whatever the outcome, lets have some good WCHA playoff hockey this weekend!!!!

Joe Howe has tremendous willpower. He did work out (very lightly) for about 15 minutes on Tuesday. And was to be re-evaluated again on Wednesday. But now it is less than 48 hours to game time. I would bet my money that Howe will be in net Friday.

Go Tigers!!

I will pull a vintage DU trick and throw a frozen chicken at his head.

Re: WCHA ROUND ONE: CC vs. UMD @ the DECC

Pablo is reporting over in the All Things DU thread that his dad heard that Howe broke a rib in the collision with his own player last Saturday. That stinks if that is the case because you always want any team to have their best players on the ice.

Colorado College has asked for and been given permission from WCHA officials to bring all three goaltenders for this weekend's series. So at least Joe Howe has made the trip with the team. Time will tell who starts in goal Friday for CC.

Go Tigers!!

I thought he was cleared to play and start?

So he has a rib injury? If I have heard correctly?

Old Chinese Proverb (I think ;) ): He who listens to a cc fan can be fooled; beware in trusting of what a DU fan has to say about cc

He who reads the Denver Post may have regrets; He who does not fear the Pioneer has regrets
:)
Note to self...start hating Denver more :D

Reposted from tPB...

UMD's PK is 26 for last 27. For a PK that has been a real weakness for this team that is a great thing going into the playoffs.
PP is 7/21 last two weekends.
Combined that with Reiter starting this weekend it should be a fun series to watch.

Re: WCHA ROUND ONE: CC vs. UMD @ the DECC

Maybe a bad omen for CC?

It took a little longer than expected for the Tigers to make their trip to Duluth for this weekend’s playoff series.

A thick fog settled over Duluth Thursday, closing the airport and forcing CC’s charter flight (paid for by the WCHA) to land in nearby Hibbing, the hometown of singer Bob Dylan.

CC’s charter bus driver drove to Hibbing and took them into Duluth, where they arrived at 5 p.m., checked in and hurried to the rink for an hour-long practice.
