WCHA Playoffs Ohio State @ Minnesota-Duluth 2/28 - 3/2

Re: WCHA Playoffs Ohio State @ Minnesota-Duluth 2/28 - 3/2

Can't believe the reffing in this series never mind the year. Guess what the secret is to be the opposing coach and walk slow across the ice after each period and have a "friendly" talk with the refs. Nothing like getting in the ref's heads .. getting in what you can for any slight advantage before going off the ice. Must be working. Bulldogs should just save their energy and concede at least two penalties per period and get them outta the way. Unbelieveable.

Ummm...

Two possibilities I suppose. I'm misunderstanding...or the most ironic post I've ever read.

Congrats Blackbeard. Good luck next week!

Thanks, but I think we'll need more than luck although we'll need a whole lot of that as well.

The final score of yesterday's game is misleading. I didn't get to watch any of the three games so just read the write up on the UMD site which, as I've mentioned more than once before, is often filled with undeserving flattering hyperbole as opposed to a more objective take on the game.

Hopefully, the incoming recruits will add some decent punch for both our teams next season.

Re: WCHA Playoffs Ohio State @ Minnesota-Duluth 2/28 - 3/2

I read the stories on the game and it sounded like it was fairly competitive until the empty net goals at the end put it out of reach. We will miss our seniors, but we have a lot of scoring coming back and most of our D-corps. The big question mark for us will be in net as Lisa Steffes and Chelsea Knapp both graduate. Coach Handrahan has done a nice job recruiting, so I don't have any reason to believe we won't challenge for one of the top four spots next season. We just need to stay consistent throughout the season and avoid the rough patches that have hurt us the past couple of seasons.

Wasn't that BSU and OSU that you are referring to?...from earlier this season?

I guess I should have responded to the question but it was an isolated incident (happened last November). It's not like Ohio State gets in a fight every friggin' game. I will say this, it sure changed the way teams played against us. I noticed a lot of "baiting" by our opponents after that series. Lots of teams trying to bait us into fighting so our best players would get kicked out (like what happened in that series against Bemidji).

The pokester is just stirrin' the pot.

no I'm not

having watched these teams numerous times, it's pretty clear how the various teams respond

giving the crowd the finger
it would shock me coming from most of the teams

didn't surprise me at all

LOL, this coming from a fan whose basketball team viciously attacked ours in 1972. The name Bill Musselman ring a bell? Corky Taylor? Dave Winfield? Glass houses, dude.

1972? Big 10 men's hoops? Relevant to WCHA women's hockey in 2013-2014? Okay... I don't understand how any of that would / should prohibit or discredit the opinion posted.

Maybe Woody was relevant to the OSU vs. BSU donnybrook and should have been considered as such in discussion of that occurrence? Makes about as much sense comparatively IMO.

Re: WCHA Playoffs Ohio State @ Minnesota-Duluth 2/28 - 3/2

Besides which, you aren't going to find a whole lot of defenders of Bill Musselman in these parts.

Pokechecker called out Marcus Hall flipping the bird vs Michigan in football so check with him on bringing OSU football into this.

I thought this was all concerning the recent "wave" to the crowd at Ridder by the Shannon Miller underling. Maybe I wasn't paying attention.

Pokechecker was talking about a UMD player a couple of weeks ago in women's hockey, so yes, you were the first one to change sports.

Got it, my mistake! Thanks for the clarification, ARM. Good luck today and in the NCAA Tournament! :)
