WCHA First Round: Bemidji State @ North Dakota

Re: WCHA First Round: Bemidji State @ North Dakota

Can't wait for Friday!!! I have a lot of respect for Bemidji...they always play well, have a great tradition, and the players as well as the fans are classy. I wish all WCHA teams were the same.

Having said that...GO SIOUX!!!

What happened to Aaron Dell?

After the game last Saturday Frattin, Finley, and Oshie force fed him a bottle of boon's farm and he wrecked a school bus on the lawn on of an old folks home. Hakstol made him walk to class all week so it's been handled internally.

I was more referring to the situation where Eidsness lost his job last year and Dell playing lights out, followed by the opposite happening this year. Any theories as to why Dell sucks so bad now?

I guess going 10-3-1 in his last 16 games with a 2.52 GAA = "sucks so bad"?

Re: WCHA First Round: Bemidji State @ North Dakota

My apologies. I havent followed UND as closely as you have. But his save percentage is still. 893 despite his relative hot streak. Eidsness has a save percentage of .925, which is substantially better. So why has Eidsness not gotten a chance to play more? It seems he has earned it. Dell got a chance last year when Eidsness struggled.

My best guess is that they value wins more than other stats. Dell has played well of late, but so has Eidsness. My hope is that they will continue the goalie rotation through the rest of the season.

What you will notice is that Dell has amazing positioning and poise whereas Eidsness can be a bit erratic with his positioning giving up bad angle goals and his puck handling skills are not that great. Dell was also hurt for about a week plus Saturday was senior night so Eidsness was kind of a shoe in for that start.

For a long time, this round has been about momentum and/or seeding. This year it is about survival. It will be interesting to see the boys will handle it. Bemidji will play their hearts out.

Good show as always, Moose!

Two wins by BSU over North Dakota this weekend will give the Beaver Hockey Program 1000 wins in their 57 seasons (currently 998-502-94)! GO BEAVERS!

Re: WCHA First Round: Bemidji State @ North Dakota

Lucky for us all Bemidji will end the season at 998. Nick owns Danny.

Beavers lose in two cause Danny cries in the loo.

Re: WCHA First Round: Bemidji State @ North Dakota

Well, that was an interesting game last night at the Ralph. Bemidji controlled play for prolonged stretches, but three weird goals and an empty netter doomed the Beavers. Bakala played very well, but Dell played great as well. Both goalies faced grade A chances and were up to the task. Brock Nelson has to be about as snakebit as anyone that I have seen in awhile. He had 3-4 golden opportunities...certainly a 23-goal scorer would bury 1 or 2 of them? Bakala said no.

It should be another great game tonight. The atmosphere at the rink is always a notch higher when it could mean that one team's season is over. The Sioux will need to play better defensively and cut down on turnovers, or it could be a flipped result tonight. It will be interesting to see if Hakstol plays Eidsness tonight. My thought is that Eidsness should get the start. It seems that the rotation has been working quite well, and Eidsness has shown he can be counted on. If Bemidji wants to play on Sunday, they will have to cash in on their chances. They had them last night and could not cash in, although Dell was a big reason for that.

Either way, I'm hoping for another great game tonight, and hopefully the Sioux can punch their ticket to St. Paul with a win.

I say let's keep it interesting and let BSU win tonight.
