Re: WCHA Final Five Semi: St. Cloud State vs. Wisconsin
Just saw footage of LeBlanc's series winner, and by far what I liked most about that video was Raboin's reaction.
In our postmodern world who's to say where we draw the line on relevance in a post?
Who knows where thoughts come from? They just appear.
I remember after the Saturday night game in Madison that Husky fans were upset that Lee was getting any time at all and that Dunn should be the guy.
MOST may have been, I've been behind a rotation all year.
I expect a great game Friday afternoon. All 4 games between these teams were pretty lopsided this season, 4-1, 1-4, 5-1, 4-7.
Oh how quickly we forget. That 4-1 SCSU victory was 2-1 with less than a minute left until we scored an empty netter and then a UW defenseman (Gardiner I think?) coughed up one to Lasch.
When UW has played well they haven't had much trouble with St Cloud this year.
And when SCSU played well they haven't had much trouble with UW. Gee... I wonder what'll happen if both of these teams could play well at the same time?
Which was actually 5 close games against Mankato over two straight weekends. Mankato's kind of an odd duck. They quite often have a lot of success against St. Cloud no matter how good either team has been playing.
Mankato's a thorn in Denver's side too.
At the very least I hope we can come together as two fanbases with something we can both agree on and publicly mock the Gophers for their conspicuous absence.
LwB and I will start the chant, but how do we wanna word it? "Where's the U?" wouldn't sound very good. "Where's Lucia?" is the perfect number of syllables, not my favorite but might sound the best. "Where are the Gophers..." one too many.
Per the Center Ice Club Twitter, "The Eagle Street Grille is the official St. Cloud State gathering location for the WCHA Final Five".
Located at 174 W 7th Street. Closest establishment to the Xcel Center.

So does that mean nothing for Thursday?
I'm not sure comparing SOG means anything from the previous meetings. I'm too lazy to research it, but SCSU has likely been out-shot by a fairly good margin over the course of the season...yet they are winning games and one of the best teams in the nation. SOG, as it has always been, is the most over-rated statistic in hockey.
First off, "SOG = Stupid Stat." - MNS
Second, If you haven't noticed, over the last decade, we do better when we're outshot.
Lastly, I think part of it is SCSU's shot tracker does a better job of actually calling shots fairly. I've seen some games where the home team's guy gave them like 6 to 8 more shots than they should've.
As for this weekend, I think it'll be a close game, but I see Wisconsin pulling out like a 5-4, 6-4 kinda game. The nice thing is that while the last two weeks have been bad hockey, we won the 2 games we needed to and while the 2 losses and a tie hurt us PWR-wise, we got to St. Paul, and maybe UW will have their guard down a bit since they've gone 4-0 (albeit against two bad squads) and we've played .500 hockey against just as bad of competition.
Also, I know you read this, so wanted to say sorry to Brent for not saying hey in Mankato. Was running around a lot that night. Hope to see you and Tiny at the games, maybe at the Eagle Street Grille?
