Wcha 2022-23

Dilks 10 rookies to watch:

Bouveng MN
Burgen UMD
Edwards UW
KK UW
Henderson UMD
Laitynen UM
Morrow OSU
Simms UW
Tuttle MSU
Zimmermann St. Cloud

Don't sleep on St. Cloud, they've got a proven winner coach. Could they be the next OSU?

Not to that level, at least in the short term. I agree that the coach will improve them, but he couldn't get UND to the FF with the Lams and Karvinen. Partly, that was because he had to go through the NCAA Champ, but I don't get the feeling that the Huskies have been sitting on an NCAA tourney team for two decades, just waiting for the right coach to arrive. First, the Huskies have to be the next MSU or BSU when Scanlan first arrived.

How is the goaltending? And what about that all world defense? And what about all those highly touted freshmen? Maybe they will show up tomorrow...

Psu did play an exhibition last week. UW will be ok. Definitely need info on goaltending though. I'll get to watch tonight.

First ever loss in September for the sinners...Have the sinners ever lost to a CHA team?
"
Wisconsin will be ok"...Actually I'm good with Wisconsin just being ok.

That is a great question. I think they said after last night Wisconsin is 50-2 vs the CHA. Another great question would be which non conference opponents have beat Wisconsin? Can’t be a long list.

In 09-10, when Johnson and a portion of the Wisconsin roster were at the Olympics Wayne State tied Wisconsin. That same year Robert Morris beat Wisconsin.

Off the top of my head, UW has lost NCAA tourney games to Dartmouth, Clarkson, Colgate, and Northeastern. Adding in the season, the Badgers have lost to UNH, PC, SLU, Brown, and Harvard. The Wildcats own a sweep over the Badgers; I'm not sure anyone else has done that.

No worries about a sweep. The sinners have righted that ship and destroy Penny ante State 9-1. Snacked on a cupcake tonight. Makes you wonder how overconfident the sinners were going into game 1.

Not a lot when Wisconsin's average regular season nonconference opponent is 379-453-96 and 23rd in the PWR between the 2018 loss to Northeastern and the loss yesterday to Penn State.

Wisconsin has lost to Northeastern, Clarkson, Colgate, and Dartmouth in the tournament.

With some reservations here is the order of finish as predicted by USCHO's Nicole Haase. Posted last Thursday 9/22/22.

2022-2023 WCHA season preview
1. Ohio State
2. Wisconsin
3. Minnesota
4. Minnesota Duluth
5. Minnesota State
6. Bemidji State
7. St. Cloud State
8. St. Thomas

Thanks for pointing that out. It kind of reads like Nicole is telling us why Wisconsin is going to win, even as she is officially picking OSU.

This season could be similar to 2018-19 when it was clear in advance that UW, UM, BC, and Clarkson all had loaded rosters, but they had varying levels of success in putting those pieces together.

In other games last weekend......

BSU sweeps Lindenwood 3-2 OT and 6-3
UMD sweeps LIU 4-1 and 5-0

Upcoming games:
Lindenwood at UW
UMD at St. L / PSU
OSU at Kato
RPI at St. Cloud
BSU at Clarkson

Looks like broomsville for the WCHA (wink), though I find myself rooting against UMD.

I'd guess that the nurses remember their trip to Bemidji last year and would like to repay the hospitality.

Most certainly would. As for their games against Sacred Heart they won 3-0 and 2-1. Totally dominated both games in terms of puck possession.
1st game outshot SHU 90 to 19 with SOG 50 to 9. 2nd game SOG were 41-11.
1/5 on the PP and 1/7 on the PK.
Lost Frenette (F) and Petrie (F) (Harvard xfer) for the season due to leg injuries. They were also missing for the weekend B McQuigge (F) due to minor injury, their best D in Gosling due to COVID and Swiderski one of their best freshmen recruits is not rostered ( why??) but she is in school according to a posting on the Clarkson Roundtable.
Scoring going forward based on what I saw in the SHU games is gonna be an issue IMHO. The defense and goaltending will be good. Not gonna win many games if they have to top 4 or 5 goals against.
This weekend against BSU I expect low scoring affairs. Hoping for 2 Tech wins but would not be surprised if BSU splits or takes 2 and if one or both games go to OT.

Update from the Roundtable, Gosling and Swiderski will be in the lineup this weekend. Lets Go Tech.
