Tech: 25 returnees
BG: no big losses save Valleau
Mankato: huge losses

I don't get it. The returning talent is very good, and Hastings is a hell of a coach, but I think that BG is the best team.

That's why I have Minnesota State third. I think Tech takes first, although I can see why one would pick BG.

I'll give you another one. NMU has a very, very good goalie back and not so many injuries, plus some good new freshmen, I have them 4th. not 8th like most people.
 
And that's why we're all getting twitchy for the season to begin. Right now there is a 12 way tie for the Cup and every player is healthy and on the verge of a "break out year". Every coach has genius potential and every fan base is dedicated, hopeful and above average. Let the games begin!

All 3 teams will probably be within 4 points of each other by March. I think any order makes sense for them for preseason polling.

my guess is it's about BG's perceived good, but not conference-leading goaltending. but the team has depth at the position, and Burke is certainly capable of carrying the team.
Coach also says he likes the depth at D, but without Valleau he's counting on three frosh D and Braden Pears (played only 4 games last year) to step up.
yeah, and teams that have actually won the cup get that consideration, that's the way it goes. until that happens, the polls are fair enough.

Me too. I think Bowling Green will be absolutely determined to make the NCAA tournament after barely missing it last season.

I was conflicted about where to put NMU. I guess that my concern is how well Dahlström comes back. If he's where he was, then yeah.

Just like last year, the #1 biggest key to this season is non-conference performance. We need a .500 record against the Nacho, and better than .500 over the Big Mistake.

Key Games:
UAH vs. Colorado College (2)
BGSU vs. Miami (2)
BSU vs. UMD (2)
NMU vs. UMD (2)
BSU vs. UND (2)
MSU vs. SCSU (3)
MSU vs. UNO (2)
BGSU vs. WMU (2)
FSU vs. WMU (2)

UAH needs a split with CC, BGSU needs to win 3/4 against Miami+Western, BSU needs to split the 4 games with UMD+UND, MSU needs 3/5 of the games against SCSU+UNO, and NMU+FSU combined need to split with Western+UMD. That is the road to 3 teams in the NCAAs.

I split the difference and have them 6th. ;) But I'd agree to put them 4th before I'd put them 8th.

Could be very well be. The media apparently agrees with this more than the coaches. Coaches had MSU an overwhelming favorite (8 of 10 first-place votes), while the media didn't even give MSU a majority of first-place votes (12 of 29).
