Fairbanks HD should be up and running....GF was the UAH-AK series not???

I don't think that anyone was HD in 2014, and that wasn't the fault of the schools per se. I can't remember if the games were shot widescreen or not. UAHstatman, do you remember?

Re: WCHA 2014-15: Semi-colons make things seem important

I feel like I have to quote Matt's email here: "HD quality: We’ve been able to successfully implement multi-bit rate functionality, which minimizes buffering and enables HD-quality feeds (even with a less-than-optimal in-venue bandwidth), for 8 of our 10 venues. We are working hard with both of those institutions, and on the America One/Akamai back-end, to find a solution for the other two."

So it looks like bandwidth may not necessarily be the problem for those schools. That tells me that we may be back to "these schools aren't producing in HD".

Just checked the replay -- it was widescreen.

Happy new year to my WCHA brethren. May your 2015 be full of non conference wins, HD streaming, and a TV deal on a three-digit channel that doesn't have a 7 in front of it.

Shirtless Guy: According to SiouxSports.com, UAH is now counting towards your RPI. ;)

Re: WCHA 2014-15: Semi-colons make things seem important

Nice job Huntsville.
First weekend sweep of a D1 opponent since 1/29-30 2010.
AND you're outside the bubble for the BottomFeederBracket/FutileFour.

Re: WCHA 2014-15: Semi-colons make things seem important

I'm afraid there's nothing quite as high-tech as a slide rule involved in the process.

Slide rules put men on the moon. We haven't been back since we got computers that would fit inside of a VW Vanagon. Perhaps we went wrong somewhere.

I think it was about the time we realized high frequency trading was a good use for technology.

Re: WCHA 2014-15: Semi-colons make things seem important

So i've been thinking on what it will take for our teams to get into the tournament. correct me if I'm wrong here. Seems to me there are some teams out of the top 16 that will be in at the end of the year. Colgate has gotten all their hurt guys back but one and is playing exceptional hockey now. BC, getting better could easily get in. . Michigan, same. Yale, a maybe. Vermont not so much, even though they are a good team. PC, same should make it in.

Based on that, I'm thinking our teams will need to be top 13 to get in, or win the auto bid.

We have three teams that can compete, but they will have to play their best hockey at the end of the year. The northstar cup will be real interesting this year.
I'm also wondering who might finish top 4.

I think that it will take the Big Three going like gangbusters down the stretch, especially Mankato. Then someone is going to have to knock the Mavs off: UAH in the first round in three, or whoever is 4/5 in the tournament. I think that it will have to come with whoever has a hot goalie, which means that Ferris, Northern (if Dahlström can get healthy), or UAH all have a shot.

UAH, for example, has twice made the NCAAs with hot goaltending on teams that struggled to score goals: 2006-7 with a zany "we get behind early, change goalies, win, put the winning goalie out there, lather, rinse, repeat" that led to a 2OT game against Notre Dame where Marc Narduzzi stopped 49 straight after entering the game before UAH lost on a PPGA. Then there's 2009-10 with that Cam Talbot character. UAH is unbeaten this year when they get to three goals, so it's not completely insane for any of the three schools mentioned, which all struggle to score goals but have dynamite goaltending.

Seven WCHA athletes are on the Hobey Baker fan vote list. All I know is that Carmine Guerriero isn't. I demand tribute.

That appears to be a glaring oversight, and I'm convinced it will look worse with each passing week. Not to say he should win it, but I would certainly put him ahead of a lot (most?) of the names on that list.

I get forgoing Dahlström, who seems to be injured. (I hope that he comes back.) But Carmine?

Re: WCHA 2014-15: Semi-colons make things seem important

Dahlstrom has only played one fewer game than Carmine.

This is true. However, Carmine has been playing and is currently healthy. Trust me, I want to see Mathias back in action.
