Ways To Know You're a Division III Fan...

Re: Ways To Know You're a Division III Fan...

You see an ad for the Jeopardy Collegiate championship, see a UWRF sweatshirt and think "Thunder Lobsters"

Same deal, except you think about watching UWRF bounce Plattsburgh in the semis live on WPTZ back in '93 :(

Close, but not quite. UW-Stout is in Menomonie and not Menomonee Falls. Wrong side of the state.

Yes, much like Norwich & Northfield, VT - on a Wisconsin scale - Menomonee Falls is much closer to MSOE.

Alright....I'll go a step further even to before USCHO.

: You remember the old hockey3 list based out of Bowdoin I believe.

I believe I posted on there when I was in or close to the single digits.

Hockey3 was operated out of Univ of Maine...but it primarily discussed ice hockey....obviously no relation to USCHO Forum:D:eek:

I recall Hockey3, it was a "gopher" site - a text only site, and in the early days (1990's) of the internet it provided something for geeks to do. It wasn't that far removed from the BBS systems on the 1980's.

It's URL would have looked like --> gopher://maine.maine.edu/11/miscinfo/lstserv/hockey3

More, I would guess like Essex County, VT and Essex Junction, VT

Essex Junction is not in Essex County which is way on the other side of the state

Clinton, NY is near Utica, NY, while the town of Clinton is on the Canadian border (though it is in Clinton County). With the advent of GPS's, coming "close" when entering your address might not get you there.

The town of Peru, NY (Clinton County) is just south of Plattsburgh.

The Hamlet of Peru, NY (Onondaga County) is west of Syracuse.

Good luck with differentiating THAT on a Tom-Tom or Garmin.

Enter Stillwater, NY in your GPS and see what you get! OR how about Mt. Vernon, NY?

And he bet it all and lost. How could he not know that Swine Flu is 2 parts pig, one part human and one part bird?

Typical of UWRF - start strong and crash at the end (of late, anyway :D )

The Village of Saranac Lake, NY: 3 townships (none of which is the Town of Saranac, which lies just west of Plattsburgh), 2 counties, 1 lake inside the village limits, and it's Lake Flower, not Saranac Lake. Of course, Saranac Lake residing in Saranac Lake would be impossible anyway, since there is no actual "Saranac Lake": there are three lakes that use it as a portion of their names, designated "Upper," "Middle," and "Lower" by their positions along the Saranac River. Oh, and Saranac Beer is brewed in Utica, nowhere near any of the aforementioned municipalities or waterways. New York is one of those states that keeps title abstractors in very comfortable business :)

...your place of employment has storage buildings built by Wick. everytime since late march you've seen the Wick logo on the building and start to wonder how life would be different if SNC could have lit the lamp one more time.
