Video: Denver's Makowski's 195-foot SHG #3 draws national coverage on ESPN, Deadspin

Brutal for Genoe. He didn't see it coming. At least Frazee saw it coming...

I agree - that's tough for any goalie.

I felt bad for Genoe.

Bina was #1. Bina > Makowski

Bina didn't have to contend with slam dunk contests on ESPN...:)

Excuses, excuses. Bina Rule! Makowski Drools!

Jamie Russel said:
That’s a tough one to recover from. I thought Kevin did a good job moving forward and mentally bouncing back after that, but that’s a tough break. It’s a 2–1 game — for Kevin’s sake, I hope it’s not on SportsCenter.

I guess he spoke too soon.

Just compared the Bina goal to the Makowski goal.

Bina:

Makowski:

Makowksi's was farther away, shorthanded and with more players around him to shoot through...

They were both shorthanded.
Makowski's was definitely from further away. Bina's was probably "more significant" being that it tied the game up, and that it came against a hated rival on the road.

Forgot that I had just opened Pandora. "High on the Heels" by The Whitest Boy Alive was a pretty excellent soundtrack for the top ten.

The one common item between the two goals is that both goalies were back in the paint. It makes the net look huge and inviting to the puck and in a blink of an eye... in it goes.

Magness' terrible lighting continues to disappoint. :-p

,

If you think our lighting is bad, you should hear our sound system...

Seriously, though, in our $85 million arena complex we do have cold beer, full bar service, a terrific carving station, and a 215 foot gold-leaf bell tower with a 65 bell carillon that plays the DU fight song before and after games for the whole neighboorhood. Lighting and sound? That's the other guy's problem...:)

Look at it on the bright side. At least Genoe can use the lighting as an excuse when he hits the talk show circuit.

Some other possible excuses.

10). The puck really flies off the stick in the thin air of Denver

9). I lost it in the smog

8). I always wanted to be on Sportscenter

7). I was trying to draw an icing call

6). More people have seen me on one day on YouTube than attend Michigan Tech games in a career

5). In this internet age you've got to do something to stand out to future employers

4). I wanted to pay tribute to Bill Buckner, my favorite baseball player

3). College hockey needed more media attention

2). I spent too much time on the Skating Treadmill in the offseason so now its hard to drop into the butterfly

1). I was counting on the WCHA refs overturning the goal on replay
