Vermont Hockey: Taking No Prisoners In 2012-2013

Re: Vermont Hockey: Taking No Prisoners In 2012-2013

It had been a little while since UVM had a horrible game so hopefully they got it out of their system.

The worst call of the weekend was the 2nd penalty on Friday against the CatsWalls. Give me a BREAK.

Tough QF series matchup for the Cats. I would rather face any of the other teams on their ice. Was hoping for UNH though, they are tripping up badly.

Go Cats. At least 7th is an improvement and it's a very young team losing very very little to graduation. Next year they should be a few points better, I like the way Fallon, McCarthy, and the D are developing.

Bump.

Would be nice if we could win one game this weekend to make it interesting. Wish we were playing someone else, somewhere else this weekend. UNH would be a nice opponent about now, as Maine noted last weekend.

Guessing BU is going to get stronger in the future with some new blood in the program.

Can't expect much of a last gasp from our three seniors who actually play this year but at least they are going out on a higher note than last years small class did.

Maybe the new pope will pull as fast one for us. Go Cats

I agree, it would be nice if we could win a game, not only to make things interesting, but also to finish on a good note and have some positive vibes going into next season. Also agree that it would be nice to be playing another team. With all due respect to Lowell, which played great this year and deserved the regular season title, I'd almost rather be playing them. UVM typically doesn't fare well against "run and gun" teams like BC. Too often, we get sucked into that style of play, to our own detriment.

If I were betting, I'd say BC wins this series in two games. I think the Cats are certainly capable of winning a game though, epecially if we can slow BC down and keep the pace a little more deliberate. At the very least, I hope we don't see a repeat of last Saturday's game.

Is sneddon on the hot seat at all? Or have they shown enough improvement this year?

No, I don't think he's on the hot seat. Things might have gotten interesting if his contract were expiring, but that's not the case. And to answer you second question, I think the team has shown enough improvement to give him some more time. Actually, when the team when into its January swoon, I was convinced we were going to have a repeat of last year--i.e., the team basically loses their remaining games and misses the playoffs. To his credit, however, he was able to get the team back on track and we played some decent hockey down the stretch to make the playoffs.

Whether Sneddon is the coach of the future at UVM is another question entirely. Even with the nice turnaround at the end of this season, I tend to think not. We seem to have the same persistent problems year after year and he's the one constant, so that's got to fall on the coach. I think we need someone who can bring some new energy to shake things up.

Re: Vermont Hockey: Taking No Prisoners In 2012-2013

UVM picked up a commit from Craig Puffer, LC, from Berkshire Prep. He'll be there either 2014 or 2015.

Re: Vermont Hockey: Taking No Prisoners In 2012-2013

Imagine, a UMASS Lowell fan keeping UVM fans updated on THEIR recruits...........there's something wrong with that!
Nothing wrong with it IMO. He's a hockey fan first and foremost. If I had the scoop on something about UML, I'd do the same thing.

It's not about scoops......it's about knowing and "being connected". Not to say you aren't but there are ways to get the information. Besides, I am a huge Sneddon fan although I don't post often on your thread. I wish the Cats all the success in the world vs the Eagles. BTW, if you outscoop UMLFan on Lowell hockey, I'm sure Norm would fire him!!

Do you actually have a point? Or can I start calling you the riddler?

Re: Vermont Hockey: Taking No Prisoners In 2012-2013

*** does Vermont even practice the power play? Is it possible to send the man to the box but decline the man advantage? Please can we get a new coaching staff after 10 years of this pathetic display.....I am sorry he may be a great guy but he is not a good hockey coach.

Re: Vermont Hockey: Taking No Prisoners In 2012-2013

Hey iam new to the fourm and never posted before so go easy on me but I was wondering what you guys thought of Kyle Reynolds I watched this kid play junior A in okotoks in the AJHL and I thought he was super good and would get drafted for sure but since he's been in Vermont I haven't really heard anything about him he puts up descent numbers and plays a smart game and has crazy speed . The only negative I see is his size . What do you guys think the lack of interest is all about

Re: Vermont Hockey: Taking No Prisoners In 2012-2013

Cant decide what was more pathetic last night...the Vermont Powerless play or the BC attendance.

I think Sneddon should abandon the PP and just roll lines, hell we play most teams 5 on 5 better than 5 on 4
so just play normal and let the other team figure it out.

And how did they get a number of 3213 for attendance? Were they counting empty seats? Sad how BC fans
get more excited for the beanpot than the playoffs. Sad to watch the BC bench on TV and see nothing but
empty seats behind York.

Attendance across Hockey East is always abysmal for the quarters. I understand the students are on break, too.
