Mario Puskarich does seem like he'll be a great player for us, has 30 goals and 34 assists in 40 games. Leads the BCHL in both goals and points.

Good game by McCarthy too. Three points, including an unassisted goal. He's a senior, but has a year of eligibility left after red-shirting last season. Sure hope he plans to return, he's been the MVP of the team this season.

Very nice game by the Cats, especially McCarthy and Reynolds. Reynolds has come on strong lately which is great to see. He is probably the best finisher on this team. McCarthy has just been all out hustle for the entire year, definitely the most consistent player... what a sweet pass to Reynolds for the first goal.
Power play still looked rough. PK was excellent especially on the 5-3 joke in the 3rd period. I still haven't figured out how Turk got punched in the face by the Maine bench and ended up with the lone penalty but whatever, they had a great kill there and held on.
Games like this frustrate me though, if they played like they did tonight this team would be contending for home ice, not for the final playoff spot...

Congratulations to Vermont, they deserved the win after a lack luster start in the 1st period.

That third goal was a gift. Does Ouellette always play like that? He gifted UVM 3 chances at an open net, that was just the only one they actually capitalized on, but if that game was an indication of his puck handling abilities I would attach him to the net some how.
But you are right, the same could be said for Maine, and for every other team in HE. Half of it really comes down to who came to play any given night, the other half comes down to skill.

He and some of the others appear like they'll add some much needed scoring punch to the lineup. Brendan Bradley has crazy good assist numbers! Hopefully Puskarich's and Bradley's numbers will transfer to the college game.
Mario Puskarich -- love the name. Sounds like a classic hockey name. And he's from Fort Walton Beach, FL -- classic hockey location!

Actually, Ouellette has handled the puck quite well this year. That was unusual for him to mishandle the puck so many times. I might go 60% skill, 30% ready to play and 10% puck luck.

Dont forget the percentage that covers how far that nights refs have a stick up there behind.

They had a great game against ME followed by a solid win against NU. I'd like to say it makes me optimistic, but it only makes me more pessimistic because it can't last.

If there is a benefit, it would be BU seems to be falling apart. Cats have helped themselves, but I thing they need at least 4 points of the possible 12 to be assured of making the playoffs. Anything less and it gets iffy.

Team has played well other then Mack And Lowell when Sneddon went to that trap crap dump game. They played well vs BC. Thoughts how many points we need to clinch a playoff spot? I'm going with 4 more points seals it up.

Effort this weekend was very good, I loved the aggressive forecheck they used constantly sending forwards at puck rushers with
another in close support if the rusher was able to make a move by. They really made it hard for NU to get good rushes.
Powerplay while not scoring did show better and faster passing but again they were all hesitant to pull the trigger.
Shorthanded seems to be great in the first 90 seconds but breaks down in the last 30 seconds.
Hoffman was solid again(2 goals in last 3 games) he came up big when needed and the team D was great all weekend.
Offense again generated chances but as usual doesnt finish, luck for us the D was great.
Hope Reynolds isnt hurt to bad.
Last 6 game used to look so bad but BU looks very beatable and we outplayed BC for much of that game
a few weeks ago. UNH is probably the toughest matchup right now so even a split this weekend would
be able to keep this mometum going

Couple a more good wins for the Cats. This 6 game stretch to finish the season doesn't look nearly as daunting as it did earlier in the year. BU has almost completely fallen apart and BC and UNH aren't playing nearly as well as they were before. Plus, 2 of the 3 series are at home, so that might help. I think 4 points is very doable and that should be plenty enough. Of course, they should aim higher and have some good mo going into the playoffs. You get hot at the right time, and who knows what can happen.....
On another note, saw our old friend Rob Madore play last night in Atlanta for the Florida Everblades against the Gwinnett Gladiators. He played pretty well and his team won 4-3. Made some "highlight reel" glove saves, but also gave up a long rebound that was potted at the end of the game. Thought it was pretty cool seeing him though. BTW, one of his teammates was Cory Trivino, the kid who was kicked off BU last season.

Just realized Brayden Irwin plays for the Florida Everblades as well. Didn't notice that last night as they didn't have a handout with rosters, etc.

Nice to see the Cats beat some teams that they should beat or be competitive with, but let's not get carried away here. Cats are 4 and 1 in the last five after a five game losing streak. That makes us 4 and 6 in the last 10. All 4 wins against low end teams. I will be both happy and surprised if we get four or more points in the next six games. On paper we don't have a chance in any given game. Any of those teams can play on half their cylinders and still beat us going away if we don't have stellar goaltending and play extremely physically
Having said that, it seems that Hoffman is on a role and team D is improving. But that was against ME and NU. The next six games are versus serious firepower.
I'm hoping they can squeeze into the playoffs, to do so will take some serious focus and effort.
