Vermont at UNH 12/05/10 - Cat fight in Durham

Re: Vermont at UNH 12/05/10 - Cat fight in Durham

The penalties (example -- roughing the kicker that gave them a first down and an eventual touchdown on that drive) drove me nuts.

On the plus side: MAJOR cajones props to coach Sean for going for it on fourth and one-and-a-half from their own 48 with the game tied -- and it actually worked!

Also on the plus side: ncaa.com streamed the whole game live over the internet, and it came across as well as if it were on network tv!

It was a stupid offside penalty that kept a drive alive that lead to B-C's first TD. Just a very sloppy second quarter for the Cats. They put it together nicely in the second half. Once they simplified the offense for Decker, he really looked good. Although he was awful on the deep throws.

The NCAA.com stream was amazing, although the announcer was absolutely in love with Bethune Cookman. They were all he could talk about all game. Heck he talked about their band more than he did about UNH. I thought he was the B-C radio announcer, but it was an ESPN feed, so presumably he worked for ESPN.

Impressive band, though. ;)

What were there -- about 200 of them?

On the other hand, I finally show up, and we score moments later -- yet Dean gives me no Richard Effect assist. No justice. :D

Well that would require that I then acknowledge the existence of luck, hexes, and the like. I like to think of it as a happy co-incidence at the arrival of my friend :)

More of them than actual fans.

Which makes my blood boil. The only reason B-C got the game is because they have a nice stadium. No fans mind you but a nice stadium. If that game had have been played in UNH's lousy stadium there would have been 14,000 there creating an actual playoff atmosphere and paying for actual tickets. I sure hope the NC$$ is happy that the game was played in a nice, empty stadium.

Wish I could have availed myself of the stream. I was in the nether regions of NH, selecting the perfect XMAS tree avec famille, and the radio station failed after the first half. It took quite a while to learn the final score, which was a surprise, given the sloppy penalties (as mentioned) in the first half.

I'm more than happy to settle for that, Dean!

Or as goblue says: "What can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof." More simply put: BS from me can be dismissed out of hand.

We grabbed the tree yesterday also. I insisted that it be a morning mission.

UVM goal resulted from good hard persistent work, evidently.

I wish I had come up with that quote myself. It's remarkable, how it can be applied in different situations. Just got a text from my son who's at the game, informing me of the tying goal. Darn.

You have a standing invitation :) You missed a killer breakfast... cinnamon nutmeg french toast and thick cut bacon

I think it's the probably only the bacon that could be indicted. But then again, everything tastes better with bacon!

Hitchens had a debate with Tony Blair at Cambridge week before their Debating Society week before last -- apparently it was pretty good...

EDIT: sorry -- checked my facts and the debate was in Toronto (Roy Thomson Hall).
