Vermont 2014 Offseason : Another Step Forward

Re: Vermont 2014 Offseason : Another Step Forward

Girgenson, yeah, now we're going to a really hypothetical place but it would have been nice to have seen him on the team for at least a year.

In looking at how he has produced in the NHL (which is certainly a far cry from NCAA) I don't think he would have been as dominant as everyone thought he was going to be. That said, yeah he would have probably had 30+ points and that would have made a difference. However, someone else would have gotten less points because they weren't getting as much ice time. Of course, there wasn't a lot of scoring depth last year so even a few more goals MAY have made a difference. Regardless, he didn't come so no need to worry about it much anymore.

Side note, we now have a season thread so we should probably move over there...

I'm assuming you're talking about Abramson, who never actually played for the Terriers but was a verbal recruit after walking out on Providence. Hadn't heard anything official but Over The Boards had the following back in September, more or less around the time Walls left.

-SNAFU’s in the Preseason: Terrier recruit Ori Abramson will be headed to Vermont, not Boston University, and not until January. The Catamounts are getting a big, strong, experienced defenseman who most recently held it down on the back-end for the Hitmen. BU had a nice look in picking up Abramson for the revamp of their defensive group, but that will be Vermont’s gain after all.

-Abramson and current NJ Hitmen Premier forward Conor O’Neil will now end up teammates at Vermont by 2015-16, adding some crucial experience to a roster that will also now include former BU player/recruit brothers Alexx and Jarrid Privitera. Abramson has a number of ties to Hockey East past BU, he had in the past been a Providence recruit and even enrolled on the Friars campus for a brief time not too long ago.
Interesting he enrolled at PC. Why not have to sit out a year? Got a waiver from PC?
At any rate, if he did enroll, his 5 year clock to complete 4 years of play is ticking.

IIRC he enrolled at PC for the fall of either '12 or '13 but left immediately and ended up with the Hitmen where he then committed to BU so he doesn't have to sit out a year having already done that or get a waiver from PC.His clock is ticking though.
