Very few, actually. I'll take my word for it, having seen probably two dozen more Lowell games than you have.

It's ok to say "we got a gift goal on a bogus power play and still won." I can honestly say Lowell outplayed Vermont by a nautical mile and lost. Not that I would expect Vermont fans to have that kind of insight.

You must just be a miserable person...

Re: Vermont 2013-2014 Season Thread : The Golden Year

A little payback for the terrible non-call on Stalburg several years ago which was also in game two if I recall.

So far we have had 4 games between these two teams and we have settled nothing...besides Patrnick is a spazzz.

Record 2-2 score 8-8 both team have had two games at home.

Re: Vermont 2013-2014 Season Thread : The Golden Year

Sucks when your goalie fails to steal a game, eh? Without him, Lowell wouldn't even be a ranked team this season. Oh. Wait. Maybe that's a delusional statement? You tell me ;-)

Right, because Carr's numbers are so much worse than Hellebuyck. Oh wait.....

I would call that holding a grudge but we still hate Quinn after an overturned call so I can't argue there.

So can we add the Catamount Cup for the winner tomorrow since pets face it, the system for that sucks.

The Cats pulled it off when they needed to, good for the guys. Time to step on the gas. Go Cats GO!

Re: Vermont 2013-2014 Season Thread : The Golden Year

In all honesty, that was an awesome game last night and kudos to the cats. As a Lowell fan, tough to watch and experience. I think UVM definitely deserves to be in the big tourney, and can play with top pair wise teams. Four games played against each, 2-2 records for both. Truly amazing.

To hear either side say their team dominated is a joke. And to blame refs, is a joke as well. Each team creates opportunity and it's all about taking the opportunity and running with it. UVM did that last night, and Lowell did as well on Friday.

Should be an electric game tonight. And with all the respect in the world, I wish nothing but a loss to UVM.

Man I love college hockey!

We wish you nothing but a loss as well ;) That said good to have an opponents fan who appreciates the game and can give credit. You are right these are both good teams that can play. Should be fun tonight.

No doubt. Lowell outplayed the Cats. Loved how the game opened up in the 3rd. And enough on the crappy penalty. There were much worse NON calls ( full blown interference). It's all about EVENING the calls. Hanson did it, all refs do. Expect it.

Mario, Matio. He was an absolute NO SHOW for 3 full periods yesterday. Disappointment. Glad to see he wanted it in the OT. Go Cats.

Classy post. And good to know there's at least one Lowell fan out there who's not a complete D-Bag.

You know, I won't lie where I say that I underestimated UVM on a lot of accounts. The season series has been so even that I will honestly be kind of surprised if this game isn't decided by a difference of 1 goal. And you have a good amount of fans in the stands too. Guessing most are alumni but you guys have a pretty good pop when you score this time around. I really hope you guys get into the big dance, since you guys are showing that you deserve to be there.

Now may the best team win and may ND knock BC out so one of our teams may have a SHPT at winning the tournament. :)

Agreed! He was brutal for both games. Lazy as hell, plays no defense. I felt awful for McCarthy and Bradley they were playing shorthanded each shift. He better get his head out of his .... He can score but I'm worried he is believing his press clippings. You ever see a top player on BC take 6 periods off? No!

He is lucky he got a great bounce when HT shot, but if he plays hard and with passion game could have avoided OT

Re: Vermont 2013-2014 Season Thread : The Golden Year

I bet we'll hear after the season the Super Mario is hurt. He was replaced by Lenz for a bunch of shifts on Friday and those shifts he did play he talked with the trainer after each. I watched him and he's not pushing off on any cuts. Straight ahead he's alright, by trying to curl or be shifty just inst happening. Pulled groin or similar I'm betting. Kudos to Snedon for sticking with him. It paid off in OT.

The player who needs to get his head out of his *** is Hamilton. To many bad decisions, too many times stepping up when he should drop back. Not impressed at all.

Cats need a fast start today, put a quick goal up would help a lot.

Hamilton and Walls.. I still like when Brickley is in front of the net.

Good series. Hope you make it into the tourney.

Re: Vermont 2013-2014 Season Thread : The Golden Year

Congrats to UVM on a hard fought series. Your team played their hearts out and took UML to the limit. Of course I am happy my team prevailed, but I really hope your team is selected in the NCAA tourney. I think they deserve it and have the opportunity to make some noise.

Re: Vermont 2013-2014 Season Thread : The Golden Year

Some fans do. I've tried to support Sneddon but there are glaring issues. He certainly does not have the ability to put together a power play and that has hurt year after year. I believe Sneddon is a very good coach personally, but I think he is just off in being a coach that can put and KEEP this team in the upper tier. So the question is are we ok with being good some years and not good some years or is it the priority to be good all the time. I wouldn't want to get rid of Sneddon for an unknown. The story is they made some recruiting mistakes and that's why we have such a large freshman class. It appears we have more players coming again next year then are needed as well. He has another year on his contract I think so he gets another year to show that's true.

While I like this team and would hope they improve next season being some many freshman, this season has been better then expect in large part to McCarthy, and I haven't seen anyone who I think can replace what he is bringing right now...

So do fans want him gone? I think a lot do, but I don't think he is going anywhere. UVM doesn't really fire coaches. Gilligan had some pretty terrible years and was never canned.

I think the biggest reason he loses so many players and uses the standby "recruiting mistakes" excuses is that he is a coach that clearly has proven he cant coach skilled players. They all digress in his system or they leave. UVM brand of hockey under his direction is boring and predictable. St Louis would have been bottled up in his system. That is the exact reason why the PP is terrible because the skilled players play too scared and with a incredible lack of creativity. I also think he has a different set of standards for "his guys" and then another set of standards for the rest of the team. One of the turnovers today was a classic example of that, something that has happened over and over without consequences so it keeps happening. You heard it here first but Puskarich will have a disappointing year next year for two reasons. Number one is not having McCarthy and number two is that the defensive only style of play will take its toll on his creativity too. Just like Brickley, Fallon, Reynolds.......and more. Oh and I put Stahlberg in that category too. Had he not played for Sneddon, he would have much less of an entitled reputation in the NHL and would have had even greater success in the NCAA. I agree with you, if we want to have one good year and then 4 bad and repeat that over and over, Sneddon is our guy because it is clear he cant develop and get the most out of his players over the breadth of their careers. so we have to pray that every once in a while they luck out and get a great steal in recruiting and we get the most of that player before they fade into the defensive zone.

great game guys. Honestly, UVM gave me anxiety all series. I believe you will be in the tourney, and if so I will be rooting for you ( except against us, of course). Safe trip to those that made the trek to Lowell. Good luck UVM.

Not at all. That league likely only gets 1. Pairwise tool is out. UVM is pretty much a lock barring upsets in ECAC (2 games) WCHA with bowling Green and UNH winning Hockey East. Pretty much all those things need to happen for us not to make the tournament.
