Re: Vermont 2013-2014 Season Thread : The Golden Year

I'd prefer that match-up, even though that would take them out of Bridgeport. Wisconsin goalie looked shaky against Ohio State. McCarthy will have a field day.

I much prefer that match up. I want no part of Union.

Re: Vermont 2013-2014 Season Thread : The Golden Year

They can if there are 5 Hockey East teams in the tournament. More likely they'd be sent to Bridgeport, but if the committee wanted to keep serpentine bracket integrity, it's allowed.

I didn't realize that rule was thrown out if there are 5 teams from one conference.

Here is my prediction of location/seeding:

St. Paul
#1 Minn vs #4 Robert Morris
#2 Ferris State vs #3 St. Cloud State

Worcester
#1 BC vs #4 Denver
#2 UML vs #3 Colgate

Bridgeport
#1 Union vs #4 UVM
#2 Quinnipiac vs #3 Providence

Cincy
#1 Wisconsin vs #4 North Dakota
#2 Norte Dame vs #3 Minn State

I really don't care who we play, so why not Union? While we may not win a nat'l championship this season, we're gonna be a very tough "out." I'm confident we can beat anyone on any given night, so there's no need for us to have to *****-foot our way to the FF. If we can't git er done in the opening game, then we don't deserve a NC anyway. Bring on Union--this is gonna be fun!

The word that was censored above was "p:u:s:s:y-foot."

Doubt they'll move Notre Dame to Cincy. I think the only change in seedings MIGHT, MIGHT be you guys going to Bridgeport instead of NoDak, but I would absolutely love it if your bracket was right.

This! Union or Wisconsin... either are going to be tough games, but we can beat anyone on any given night. More over Union is a #1 seed and has played extremely well IN LEAGUE. OOC they have a good record too but few of their opponents gave them a challenge.

They were 1-0-1 against #26 Bowling Green
They were 0-2-0 against #34 Lake Superior
They were 0-0-1 against #42 U Conn
They had 2 1goal wins against #51 Penn St.
They were 1-0-1 against #9 SCSU
and they were 2-0-0 against #18 UNH whome we also beat 2-0-0.

Union doesn't face tough competition, there are two other ECAC teams in the top 16 and Union is 1-2-1 against them. They are rolling no doubt but if you have played 6 games against the top 16 out of 38 games... well you should be rolling. UVM played 16 games against teams in the top 16... They are just coming off a great performance making the HE league champs sweat to get to the Garden.

I'd be happy with that match up in the first round. A game against some actual competition in a tight game will probably be a lot harder for them to deal with then the Cats.

My only worry is that Bennett may put a beat down on Sneddon or McCarthy after the game if UVM pulled off the upset. :0

FYP. They beat us last night.

Re: Vermont 2013-2014 Season Thread : The Golden Year

It's actually too bad they didn't put VT in Cinncy against Wisco... then there would have been the opportunity for an all HE Frozen Four. That's probably why they put them in Bridgeport, an all HE FF would have had the western folk up in arms crying Eastern Bias...

Good luck Cats!

Too UML as well. This is why HE is awesome. Son much nasty trash talk all year, then when NCAA starts all we do is root hard for each other. I think I speak for all UVM fans, thanks to the Riverhawks, and my lord did you put a beat down on in the Garden!

Re: Vermont 2013-2014 Season Thread : The Golden Year

Back to Bridgeport! Hope there is the same CT magic as in 2009! Only hurdle is the Friday funk. Cats are 6-8-1 on Friday this year and 14-6-2 on all other days. Bummed that I can't go. Go Cats!

Re: Vermont 2013-2014 Season Thread : The Golden Year

Like most people I was hoping for the team to get to .500 this year and they more than passed
any hopes I had for this year. No matter what happensthe future looks much better.

I think the week off will help some of the players that just looked a bit off versus UML, I think both
Mario and Chris looked to be playing thru something and it was good that Shaw had a big series.

Re: Vermont 2013-2014 Season Thread : The Golden Year

Thoughts to the lineup?
Until the last month or so, Decenzo had been the odd man out. But since then, Decenzo has been playing with Brickley and White. it's been an ongoing change to the 59 line first with Massar out, and most recently Forgione out. The first playoff game game against Lowell they were together and Walls sat with Lenz roving on a few lines.
