UW @ CC game 3 - who will be living the sheen dream

Re: UW @ CC game 3 - who will be living the sheen dream

Apparently Bruce McLeod not thrilled...word from the press box

Of course not, raining on his pairade and the WCHA. Maybe if he had actually exibited a bit of a backbone and something resembling leadership this may have been avaoided.

Once Schmidt blew that call at DU and the WCHA did nothing to remedy the situation, McLeod effectively destroyed any chance of preventing the BT schools from forming a hockey conference.

That was the event that made me personally decide (as a UW fan) that maybe it was time for the BT to form a hockey conference. When it seems that the USHL has better officiating then the "Premere League of College Hockey", it's time for a change in leadership at the very top.

Anyway, Congrats to CC. As suspected it was a hard fought series and you earned the trip to the F5 next week. Good luck against UAA on Thursday night.

CC's athletic director said the same thing a week or two ago - BTHC is a done deal. The other WCHA schools presented a few options that they thought might fly, but it was clear to them that the decision had already been made. I think there's a good chance that this decision will eventually doom at least some of the remaining WCHA teams' hockey programs.

Serious thought here, do we over estimate the numbers that Wisconsin brings? It doesn't seem like it is that great of numbers. But than again I've only been to two Final Fives. Perhaps someone with more knowledge could clarify.

It wasn't about that call - it was about money. The BTHC will rake in a lot of cash. Unfortunately I think it will lead to a much smaller D-1 hockey universe, but it is what it is.

I am pretty sure that there are one if not two D-III schools who would move to D-1 in hockey when the current moratorium is lifted.

Who do you think would bring more fans next week, CC or UW?

UW is a distant 3rd in importance to the UMN and UND fans in terms of attendance for the F5.

Right now, the WCHA's best case senario is for a UND vs UMD championship game. If UND doesn't win the semi, ouch. I remember a DU-CC champ gam from a few years ago, it was like a blackout the X was so dead with zero energy.

Don't get me wrong, I recognize that the money was the major factor but up until that incident I was FERMLY against the formation of a B10 conference. After that call, not so much. When the WCHA lost the support of the fans and alumni of UW, they lost the ONE factor that could have influenced the decision makers at UW.

I fail to see how much more money the B10 conference will bring in, at least for UW and UMN, at least in the short term. While I think that the long term growth potential does exist, just by the weigh of the B10 with respect to ABC/ESPN, I'm not sure that will be realized for may years. I do look forward to watching the 2014 B100 tournament on ESPNU. But this is a discussion for a different thread.
