Ok.. all the games are done... Richard and Dean, always a pleasure to have you guys on the SU thread. To the UVM guys... tough way to lose, but having you guys along on the thread was good. Hope you are all back here tomorrow night. Night, all.

Hey Chad, Dean, Richard et al... Home from Durham. UNH is a very weird team, they look(ed) like a completely different team in the 3rd than they did otherwise, it's very bizarre.

Beck, however, is atrocious, and Umile not only knows it, he balls him out EVERY time a shift of his is done (on the occasion I'm about to mention, you could read his lips and it was "WHAT THE EFF WAS THAT?!"), because he's always doing something wrong out there. I feel bad for him, but at the same time, dang kid. One UVM goal, the wraparound in the 1st, was all Beck's fault. He just stood there and let him take it from the back of the net out front and backhand it in... maybe Foster wants that one back, but I don't think he was expecting him to do NOTHING on his behalf. I watched Umile some every time he was out there, and his arms were always folded and he looked insanely tense.

Foster made some real nice saves in the 3rd to keep the lead, I must say, a few real nice toe saves. Madore was OK, not stellar. The Sislo wraparound was a great individual effort, but Madore was way out of position, it was strange.

The hit that UNH radio said was a dirty hit that we got away with (& UVM scored on the play), I'd like to see a replay. In real time there it looked like the two just collided hard & the UVM guy took the worst of it (they both went flying), but it's hard for me to say as I was watching the puck and it was just behind the play.

Anywho, back at it tomorrow, hope you're all well!

Malts, are you watching the game? I am basing my opinions on what the UVm announcers are saying...sounded like UNH pulled a Matt Cooke on UVM...don't know if it was before or after the goal.

ummmmmm, not even close. It was (should have been) a charging penalty on Krates, but it happened well before the goal, and led to the 2 on 1 and the goal. It was a dumb play (both because it was a penalty and then because it led to the goal) by Krates, but it wasn't Cooke-ish, if your radio guys implied that, thats just sad...

I saw the penalty on WMUR tonight, and I agree. I think it was probably a 2:00 min penalty on Krates for a charge, but it was moot given that UVM scored. In no way was it similar to Cooke, yuck.

Hey, Erin... good to have your perspective on things. Interesting about Beck....but there is always going to be a whipping boy on every team, right? Let's hope he learns as time goes.

As for the Krates "dirty hit"... mostly Parkhurst and Webster were saying that it should have been a charging call as he took around four good strides to hit the UVM player. That was mostly the extent of it. They were just very surprised that no call was forthcoming on Krates... and the play resulted very quickly thereafter in a UVM goal.

One more to go now... have fun today!!! Oh... and do me a favor and go to Bob's Clam Hut today for lunch before the game.... you know the whole clam dinner or the half and half is sooooooooo quality! Yum!

Shawn, yep.. that is what I pretty much said as the UVM guy said that. I think Parkhurst and Webster pretty much described it well and accurately. I was CERTAIN that the play happened a good bit before the goal (not after, as the UVM guy implied) and that the play should have been called a charge. Parkhurst and Webster went back and talked about the hit after the game, too, and reiterated that they both were shocked that it was not a charging call to Krates.

Re: UVM @ UNH, Catfight Quarterfinal Round 1, 3.12.2010

My only question regarding the Krates hit (they actually showed it twice on WMUR this morning) . . . I understand that he should have gotten two minutes for charging, but assuming the UVM player wasn't hurt, was this the kind of hit that wakes a team up? Gets them energized and back in the game? I only ask because Krates is not a goal scorer, and was apparently struggling on defense, so maybe that's how he found he could contribute to the Wildcat comeback.
