UVM Offseason 2019 - Search for a Soul

Re: UVM Offseason 2019 - Search for a Soul

Massie leaving really stings, I think he was our best all-around defender; he had decent mobility, size, and puck skills and most of our other blueliners lacked at least one of those IMO

So how many D has Sneddon turned over before graduation or other reasons since he has been here...its incredible. Recruits know his reputation for turnover.

No recruit drafted no shock at all there!! I am not a count the draft picks guy because you can find the right guys to win in college hockey who are not drafted but Merrimack might have more than UVM does right now! Lekkas well deserve camp roster invite by Florida Panthers and Misley goin to Wild as draft choice but NO other Cats that I see on NHL.com! Speaks VOLUME about how pro scouts and NHL hockey people see the so called talent here at UVM not only are recruits ruined but no advisor will send a kid to Sneddon! Guy can't even make them good enough to land on a camp roster as a non draftee for a look to help their pro careers that much more reflect on Sneddon than not getting draft picks because it shows what those who see truth know the man cannot develop talent and the people paid the big bucks in the NHL see it - say what you will you neeed to show you develop players for next level whether draft pick or not because that is what these men come to school first and foremost ! nice education is a factor but we are fooling ourself to believe that they do not consider if the coaches and team they play for can make them a pro!

ps the two young men who decided to not come after WAlly world was given the boot one got drafted and the other is going to a camp!

Yeah, unfortunately, I think there's definitely some truth to what you're saying. I always thought Connor Brickley was the most overrated UVM player ever. In retrospect, his talent was probably (definitely?) never developed at UVM. Misley is another case in point -- came in with a lot of hype and I thought he'd have an immediate impact on the program. After two seasons, I'm still waiting for him to have ANY impact on the program. There's got to be a reason for that....

If you'll remember, the night the extension was announced Brady Shaw called them out on Twitter saying they didn't spend enough time on skill development. Seems like where there's smoke there's fire.

Re: UVM Offseason 2019 - Search for a Soul

Thought he played his best year last year and was the best all around defensemen on the team. Glad to see he is finishing his degree as well.

Jake Massie - had a good development camp with the Panthers, comments coming out of camp: Wish him the best - sorry to see him go but understand from a timing and his career.

The 22-year-old participated in Florida’s recent development camp and turned heads with his physical play. He was originally selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the sixth round (156th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and his rights were traded to the Chicago Blackhawks on September 11 of that year, but he was never signed to a contract. Massie has been described as a rangy defenseman who is good in his own end and limited offensively.

At least our goalie is returning. He also was at Panther camp. What is being said:

Stefanos Lekkas - University of Vermont keeper with a good foundation of technique and athleticism, but at 5’9” has an uphill battle working his way up the ranks. However does have good battle level and instincts in net.

Re: UVM Offseason 2019 - Search for a Soul

schedule out and last year said the over under was 13 wins and it was 12 no reason to see it get any better only teams i favor them for are SLU and RPI!
a progam with real expectations which this one doesnt have anymore would say Sneddon needs to win at least 16 games and 9 to 10 league games to keep his job but I'm sure getting one win in a playoff series as the 10th place team will 'show resolve' to Schulman and a 5 year deal will be in the works
FIRE SNEDDON

How are you going to get a win as the 10th seed when only the Top 8 make the playoffs?

Re: UVM Offseason 2019 - Search for a Soul

Everybody has regular season games scheduled on the weekend that would have to be the first round, the 9-11 seeds won't be in the playoffs for at least one more hear.

Not a men's hockey note, but it bears mentioning anyway...thoughts with former WBB head coach Cathy Inglese who is reportedly fighting for her life after suffering a traumatic brain injury in a fall. You may remember she was the coach during the glory years of UVM WBB in the early '90s.

Update, she has passed away at age 60. Tragic
