Now I really want to see a video of the Pattyn no-goal. One week HE refs call a play a goal then change it to a no-goal and the next they call
a play no-goal then change it to a goal. What is a "Kicking motion" anyway????? Most goals go off skates are like the UML goal last night with
the player turning his skate and his forward momentum doing all the work even without him so called kicking. This rule is alot like catch o-catch
in the NHL it is so vague even the announcers watching the dozen replays get it wrong. And I bet that call last night would never have happened
if it was UML vs BC.

or UMass for that matter. Wisconsin also has money to buyout a coach and UVM does not. Stuck with Sneddon for longer time unless someoen wants to pony up cash. I hope the new AD for UVM is like UMass' getting rid of the dead wood and someone who can actually fundraise since it is pretty clear the current UVM people cant given that free press report on them not being close to arena funds and now the whole trying to sucker SB into building one for them and even that would be 15 years aawy
So yeah be prep for mediocrity and hopeless feelings for a while because that is what we will get.

The UVM play was called a GOAL on the ice. That was supposed to be 'conclusive' evidence of the redirect. I fail to see it.
Last night was called NO GOAL but changed for the 'conclusive' no kicking motion. I also failed to see. I agree it was a goal. But where does it become 'conclusive"?
Oh well, just hanging on. BOTH were great games to watch no matter the outcome!

Looks to me like the BC player pushed Pattyn making his foot move but as others have said its not clear enough to
overturn the call. That was more of a goal then UML's goal as it is much less obvious by the replay what happened
thus you cannot change the on ice call. Funny that the video worked when BC needs it but not that game a few years
ago when Vt needed it.

complaining about officials out to get UVM is quickly becoming a fav pastime for some fans if you think the hockey green teamers are bad here just find where the basketball fans congregate and see what they say about refs - 90% of them actually think the america East title game last week was rigged for them to lose by the league and refs.

That was a pretty tough call by the refs on replay. There certainly was no "distinct kicking motion." I'm not sure Pattyn even knew where it was, it was more foot movement based on contact with another player. That said, I could actually see if the original call was a no goal and they upheld that, but the replay was far from conclusive.
In the end it doesn't really matter. This team didn't deserve a trip to the garden. They played their hearts out against BC and nearly punched their ticket, but if they had played with half that much energy and intensity throughout the season they'd still be playing.
The team can play with the top teams and hang with the top teams when they come to play and the seasons on the line. They need a captain that can get them up for every team and not just BC in the playoffs, and Sneddon needs to get over being afraid to sit top players when they aren't producing. He does here and there but not nearly enough. UVM is carrying a huge roster, if you aren't giving it 100% you don't play 100% of the time.
Time to look forward to next year

Looks like Jeff Schulman will take over as AD as he is the "sole finalist."
I like Jeff, he does a lot for hockey in the area and is a heck of a good guy. Not only that but he's a hockey alumn. The part that scares me is he has been Corran's tutor for the past decade or more... and I'm not sure that we really want to continue as normal. I hope he he changes the expectations for success on the ice. UVM's not going to the NCAA tournament year in and year out, but they should be making a bid for a ticket to the tourney every year.
On another note, they did fire the women's BB coach so maybe changes are coming.

I agree with you. I'm sure Jeff will do fine as a new AD and it is good to have a hockey guy in there. But a part of me really wishes they had brought somebody in from the outside. Someone outside of the issues that might bring a new prospective and new standard. And maybe Jeff will do that. But I can't help think that Corran had a major influence on him. Who know's, maybe he hated Corran and couldn't wait to get out from under his shadow to do things completely different.

Hearing Clarkson and UVM may have a good old fashioned home and home to kick off the new season next year, I saw you guys aren't really losing a lot and were really young last year, are expectations still low?
