Re: Ouch!!!

Re: Ouch!!!

They won't move the NYS championships !!

Well, they should. I could give two ****s about CNY/NYS high school hockey.

I'm honestly not too worried about it. I think we'll be able to have all the EcacWest & NCAA Tourny home games we want if presented with the opportunity to have them.

The NYS Hockey championships have been held at the Aud since I can remember. Utica making the NCAAs is not a sure thing every year. It would not make "business" sense for the Aud to screw up an annual conract with NYSPHSAA. Maybe Utica College should build their own arena!

The rest of NY could give two ****s about a private college having a game the same day as their boys are suppose to be playing in the State Semi's. If something is changed, and the parents start calling their State Representatives across all of NYS, anything could end up happening?

It's high school sports...

That's OUR home, not some team from bum****ville, New Yorks' home.

"The Upper Mohawk Valley Memorial Auditorium Authority was created by the New York State Legislature in 1996 to own and operate the Utica Memorial Auditorium. The Authority is comprised of seven local residents, three of whom are appointed by the Oneida County Executive and four by the county legislature. Members serve five year terms without compensation. Authority members determine policy and oversee the operation of the facility to ensure a continuing dedication to the preservation and renovation of this architectural gem. Day-to-day operations of the facility are managed by the private management company, Venue Services Inc."
(This is a quote from the Aud website. Sounds like the State of NY still has a say of what happens in the Aud!)

Re: Ouch!!!

I'm just saying, those High School parents will be tough.

Oh I understand what you're saying! They definitely will be, no doubt. It would just suck if we're able to host playoff games in our own tournament and the NCAA tournament (for the first time ever) and we're unable to because little Johnny from god - knows- where in New York State is competing to win a High school championship.

I still say the college should provide bus transportation to any Utica EcacWest tourny contest the Pioneers have to travel too. Same goes for any games they have to play at another's rink if they are fortunate enough to win a bid to the NCAA Tourny.

A few parents may be mad, but, 4,000+ fans may be mad as well ;)

It does stink that this will happen, but that is the chance you take when using a publicly owned facility that is controlled by others. Now that the program is strong thought should be put into Utica College building its own arena. You have to understand that the Aud is a county facility and as I posted above still has NY State influence. I am sure the Aud would love to host a NCAA game, but commitments are commitments and they just can't change it now.

Re: Ouch!!!

Many of those fans will be mad when they go their first NCAA game at the Aud, stroll to the counter to get their Saranac, and find out the NCAA prohibits alcohol at their events:eek:

What, Saranac, NOT Utica Club? Shultz and Dooley will fall off the shelf!!!!!!!

Re: Ouch!!!

The Utica Club was good as well. I had the opportunity to sample all flavors at the Oswego game...never had to set my beer down to cheer;)
Only one beer for me now at the Aud.........Redbridge!

Re: Utica College Pioneers 2012-13 Season

For NCAA, I show Wednesday March 6 as the play-in date and Saturday March 9 as the Quarterfinal date. 97osu is correct - the NYS HS Championship semis on March 9th, has 4 games scheduled - IF you wanted to host a Quarterfinal game in the Aud, it would start around 9pm...and hope the ice holds up...just sayin'

If UC was fortunate enough to host a 9 Mar NCAA QF game and it seems the Aud is unavailable, I would hope they'd consider playing it in Clinton Arena.
Smaller venue, tickets harder to come by, but at least it would be a 'home' game that a third or so fans could attend.
UC played Hamilton there in the past.

I believe there is a rule you must have played "x" amount of home games to use a rink.

They've also played Oswego there in the past. Good idea, but it will never happen.
