USCHO Report: NYU to ECAC-W?

Re: USCHO Report: NYU to ECAC-W?

If this happens how close (with the recent addition of Canton) is the men's side of things to getting an additional playoff spot.

It's actually Canton, Aurora, Daniel Webster, Endicott, and Nazareth is recent too unfortunately Western Connecticut has dropped (or delayed) their plans.

Re: USCHO Report: NYU to ECAC-W?

Meanwhile the Editor-In-Chief of the Brockport student newspaper wants the men's hockey team to change conferences....

http://www.thestylus.net/news/view.php/860846/Conference-change-could-lead-to-success-

He lost me at the point in the article when he tried to argue that the NESCAC and ECAC-W was so much inferior to the SUNYAC.

"All I am trying to say is, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to play teams in the New England Small Colleges Athletic Conference with Tufts University, a team the Golden Eagles beat 4 - 2 earlier this year. Or the ECAC West with Elmira College and Manhattanville College, again, two schools the Golden Eagles smashed earlier this season."

And while they "smashed" Elmira (5-3) and Manhattanville (4-3) his selective amnesia fails to remember that Brockport got "smashed" by fellow ECAC-W friends Hobart (1-3) and Nazareth (1-7 & 3-5).

Re: USCHO Report: NYU to ECAC-W?

interesting,.......not going to get in on the debate on which conference is better, but the ECAC West is no picnic.

As with several of the student broadcasters, he probably doesn't really know that much about hockey and is just looking at this year's schedule. For those of us that follow the sport, I'll take this as satirical humor!

Re: USCHO Report: NYU to ECAC-W?

I liked that his three examples of Brockport programs that don't play in the SUNYAC were all sports that the SUNYAC doesn't sponsor.

That's because, with the exception of Morrisville (who somewhat forced the SUNYAC's hand in allowing them to be associate members), the SUNYAC is an all-or-nothing conference. If it is sponsored by thr conference, and you play it, you WILL play it in the SUNYAC.

(Again, the exception being Morrisville, who are allowed to play only Men's Ice Hockey and Field Hockey in the SUNYAC while their other sports play elsewhere because the SUNYAC needs them for a field hockey AQ.
