  • The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways. Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar. We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.

USCHO Overwhelmed?

I found it down late last night. Maybe someone at USCHO tried to correct the glitches and there were issues?

Same experience for me. Hope you're correct that they were attempting repairs.

EDIT: I should add that today's outage involved the Fan Forum. I successfully used the Main Website to listen to Nicole & Todd's latest Podkaz this afternoon.

The bottom line is that this is a low traffic site with limited opportunity for ad revenue. Very few people (myself included) pay a sub. It costs money to host and for servers, and it takes a lot of hours to moderate and maintain.
This site was started as a labor of love. I for one am just grateful it exists, as no one is or ever was getting rich off it. I certainly dont feel entitled to something from this site.

This is not a low traffic site. Though the forum traffic has dropped off significantly for years now once social media really took off, which is why I'm perplexed about the constant failures on the forum side. I keep meaning to ask about it.

This coming weekend is always the largest amount of traffic for the year. With all the D1 men conference championships taking place as well as at one time all three (now two) national championships other than D1 men taking place as well.

I don't like that the main site for women's hockey has mostly podcast now. I prefer reading, I can get through it much quicker.

I love what Nicole has done for women's hockey, not just here but elsewhere, so major respect towards her (and I do listen to the podkaz religiously), and thus I don't want to be critical ... but I agree with you.

I would assume the ads could be gone and the site significantly upgraded if it became a paid subscription to be a member.

An idea whose time has come? Quite apart from the issue of access, I would gladly pay for any subscription that would allow the USCHO to rid this site of the wildly inappropriate stuff it peddles, or at least to trade in the BDSM bling for some CCM merch. Sure, there are other offerings occasionally, and I’ve been tempted to click on a three-wheeled bubble-top SUV for seniors, with a turning radius of six feet (the SUV), but both the dames and the concealed-carry holsters are very, very resistible. Sheesh!

I DM'ed Ed T on LinkedIn yesterday evening after noticing that the forum was still down from when I first checked in the morning and he got it back up shortly after. Ed is a good guy with a lot going on outside the site/forum and was likely busy through the day...
