USCHO Fantasy Football 2012

Re: USCHO Fantasy Football 2012

Amazing how good a team can look when there are only 6 teams in the league. After I joined late, I looked at my first few picks, I looked and saw ARodge, LeSean McCoy and Gronk, HOLY ****. But then, I'm guessing every team has a pretty impressive top 3 guys.

I love Gronk, but I don't think he'll have the year he had last year to justify a top 3 pick. NE spreads it around too much.

And Hammer: it's not real life, you know. Det's D in real life isn't great. But in FFL....they put up the numbers you want. ;)

Until Suh decides he wants to stomp on some unsuspecting OL's head.

That should be 5 bonus points, if you ask me. ;)

Actually, in a league some friends and I had, if a coach was fired/suspended, we got bonus points. It was our all-white league, and coaches were indeed drafted.

Don't laugh. That league was a challenge. QB points were down-valued quite a bit (for obvious reasons). WR/TEs downvalued a little less, and RB points were huge. 6 team league.

Re: USCHO Fantasy Football 2012

This is going to be an All-Pro league. I don't think I've ever done a league this small before. Should be fun.

Re: USCHO Fantasy Football 2012

Can't believe I missed this this year. Any one interested in starting a second league?

There was barely enough participation for 1 league, only 6 teams. I think you'll have a tough time finding more people. If you get to the point where you need an extra, I can be in 2 leagues.

I'm going to make it a four-team playoff. This is not Everybody Gets a Trophy Day.

There. Playoffs are weeks 15 and 16 with the added wrinkle of reseeding after each round.

Even in the early days the NFL had more than 6 teams. This is more like the end of NFL Europe. They only had six teams when that folded.

Re: USCHO Fantasy Football 2012

Drafted today, with any particular notes following the player. No required TE, but must start 3 WR/TE players. I picked 5th/12, serpentine draft:

QB
Tony Romo (wanted Stafford in the 2nd rd, guy before me took him; got Romo in the 7th)
Andy Dalton

RB
Ray Rice (are you kidding me? Fifth overall?! Thank you, God!)
Michael Turner
Cedric Benson
Rashard Mendenhall (yes, I know he's out for 6 weeks)
LeRon Mc'Clain
Joe McKnight

WR
Jordy Nelson
Wes Welker
Marques Colston
Jermaine Gresham
Kevin Walter
Brent Celek

Team K
HOU
MN

Cam went 7th overall and 3 of the top 7 picks were QBs, which is a DRASTIC change and quite a shock given the RB-heavy tendencies in our league. After the first round, everyone pretty much threw their predictions/mock drafts out of the window. All of our minds were blown.

Edit:
My longtime division rival stole Rashad Jennings and Kendall Wright from me in the rounds I was planning on taking them. When he drafted Jennings, my exact words were "MOTHER F*ING C*K SUCKER!" and threw my cheat sheets across the room.

Re: USCHO Fantasy Football 2012

So, I'm in a keeper league with my college friends, and I'm thinking of adding LaGarrette Blount and dropping one of the following: James Jones, Mark Ingram, or Isaac Redman. Is it too early to give up on Ingram, or do I just accept that Redman isn't that good, or should I realize that Blount will never ascend to #1 status?

FWIW, my roster in the keeper league:

QB - Philip Rivers
QB - Andrew Luck

RB - Darren Sproles
RB - Reggie Bush
RB - Jonathan Stewart
RB - Mark Ingram
RB - Isaac Redman

WR - Victor Cruz
WR - Larry Fitzgerald
WR - James Jones (ugh)
WR - Sidney Rice
WR - Dwayne Bowe

TE - Rob Gronkowski
TE - Jermichael Finley

K - Rob Bironas

DEF - Pittsburgh
DEF - New York

I'm sitting at 0-5. Despite this, Yahoo is incredibly optimistic. They have me projected at finishing 8-6, and because their power rankings only go by total points, I'm third out of six in that.

Re: USCHO Fantasy Football 2012

Whoops, didn't realize there already was a thread, so I deleted my duplicate. My question was:

So, I've got a ton of running backs. Lynch, Charles, Ridley, Mendenhall, and Spiller are more than enough to cover my RB1, RB2, and W/R slots. But, I'm not crazy with the options I have for WR1, WR2, TE, and W/T. Fitzgerald and Vincent Jackson are great, but I'm not thrilled with two guys from the group of Fred Davis, Scott Chandler, Robert Meachem, Jerome Simpson (what's the deal with his new injury?), Randall Cobb and Andrew Hawkins for the other spots. I'm discussing dealing Spiller (to the guy who also has Fred Jackson) for a WR. This question seems crazy, but, do I want Andre Johnson? He's been cruddy this year. I think I'd rather have Brandon Marshall, who's been a beast, even though he's on bye this week, but I'm not actually sure if they guy would deal him.

Re: USCHO Fantasy Football 2012

I'm about to deal Spiller and Josh Gordon (who are eligible to be kept next year) to a guy who's out of contention for Andre Johnson and Vernon Davis (who are not). Am I trading too much on name recognition?

Re: USCHO Fantasy Football 2012

I'm in, too. Although I'd prefer that we draft sometime later than the 1st 2 weeks of preseason games.
