USCHO Dead Pool

Is anyone interested in doing a dead pool? I figure there are enough horrible people on here to get enough that will root for old famous people to die. :p

I figure get a group of posters, cap it at 15 or something close to that. Then have a draft, probably using AIM, like the fantasy college hockey drafts do. Each person drafts 20 people. If that would take too long, we could even do the draft on the board, and have it draw out over weeks, whenever you see that its your turn, post to make your pick.

Thoughts?

Can I pick you for the pool?

I don't think I'm famous enough, but I'm sure everyone would be willing to make an exception.

I am starting to think it would work best to just do the draft here, over a couple weeks. Lets see if we can get 10-15 interested.

I'm in.

I once won an award for "Ballsiest Pick" in a dead pool for picking Sean Preston Federline at the age of 2.

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

I've heard of these but never did one... How does it work? You pick 5 people and the first one to have all 5 pass wins?

Millions of different ways. I like the ones where there are elegance points (i.e., you'd only get 1 for Fidel Castro or 3 for Abe Vigoda, but say 20 for Bristol Palin).

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

I'll play.

I've seen ones where everyone makes a list of 10-15, and it lasts for a certain amount of time (usually a year), and the ones I've seen have scoring done along the lines of 90-minus-Age, plus 5 points or so for being the only person to have the deceased on your list. That way you can have more than one person have the same person on death watch (if you can understand that), and you don't have everyone sitting on a bunch of 96-year olds that think buying green bananas is a long-term investment.

Example: Bobby Thompson passed today. He was 86. You get 4 points (90-86), plus 5 more if you're the only one that has him on your list. If someone else also has him, you both get 4 points.

This is sick. Sophomoric. Disrespectful. Morbid. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Of course I'm in.
