USCHO Continues to discriminate against WHOK

Continues to be disgusting that USCHO continues to discriminate against women's ice hockey by only posting "15" in the USCHO National Polls while posting "20" for the men. Colleges continues to add WHOK while USCHO continues to discriminate against women's ice hockey. Colleges invest thousands in WHOK, while USCHO refuses to add 5 more teams/lines to the USCHO National Polls.

It would be nice but I think proportionally its adequate as currently situated. There are almost 50 percent more men's teams.

There are 64 men's Division I teams and 44 women's Division I teams. The discrimination should be directed at the 20 universities that offer men's, but not women's hockey. Specifically, North Dakota who dropped women's hockey and all SEVEN Michigan universities with men's but no women's programs.

Putting nearly half of the women's hockey teams in a poll is stupid. Sorry, it just is. (And I know many people who say putting 20 in a men's poll is just as stupid.)

I guess somebody's just not into ratios.

There are 45 percent more men's teams than women's teams. 64 versus 44. 34 percent of women's teams (15) are listed on the poll versus 31 percent of men's teams (20). So the point is that the current polling using 15 women's teams is adequate as compared to men's and not "disgustingly" discriminatory. Not saying we wouldn't like to see more.

Did you and all the "boys" reply to this, ever think that by "promoting" WHOK on USCHO, that colleges might consider adding WHOK? Also MHOK should have 25 (like all other NCAA Polls) and not "only" 20

So then why stop at 20? Heck, you've almost halfway there, why not rank all 44?

College support for women's ice hockey FAR exceeds that in terms of the number of youth players vrs available programs than nearly any other sport. It is also one of the most expensive sports to sponsor. Just because there is a men's program at some school does not mean the school has to have a women's program - they can satisfy Title iX by offering another women's sport. The fact is that ice hockey is itself "discriminatory" in not being accessible to a very large part of the population due to cost for facilities, equipment, insurance/safety, etc. It really is for upper-middle class families and higher for the most part with the exception of some areas of Minnesota and Canada who have state sponsorship for the sport. Women's ice hockey is the LAST sport who's fans should be complaining about not being treated fairly. If you are looking for a cause, the fight is how to get more under-privileged girls (and boys) into the sport

. Get a clue about how much I have supported women's hockey. And now just go away.

Dude also started a thread on the men's side about the same issue lol. There's probably a lot more important things in life to put this kind of effort and passion towards versus a silly poll like this.

The USCHO Polls are based on ballots cast. A team receiving zero votes has no place in the Poll. USCHO already reports all of the vote totals, including those outside the Top 15.

In the most recent poll:
Others receiving votes: Maine 5, Northeastern 5, Vermont 5

So if you wish, you can treat those three schools as tied for 16th Place.

Quite honestly the thread starter's post feels like trolling. But on the chance that "Jack" is sincere: This week we honored 18 teams using the current system. And it wouldn't be strange to have 5 other teams receive votes in a future poll -- thus getting you all the way to 20 teams.

Though I appreciate your support, that's not true.

As a voter (I was one for the D3 poll for a while), you have to fill out your top 15. Everybody does. So, if the poll was for 20 teams, you would have to fill out 20 teams. So, there is a guarantee of 20 teams getting a vote if the poll was for 20 teams. (And your example of thinking about those three teams tied for 16th is not true. The math gets complicated to explain why.)

The funny thing is, the D3 men and D3 women poll have the same number of teams. Gee, I wonder if it's because in D3, both genders have essentially the same number of teams competing...

Though, both D3 polls only have 15 teams, even though both D3 genders have more teams than their respective D1 gender. USCHO discriminates against all of D3 hockey!!!!!!!!

If you were REALLY into this equality thing, you should also have asked why Women’s DIII doesn’t get its own forum? But apparently you only want to moan inequitably……

And we're nice over here compared to what the D1 posters are doing to him...
